Well, everyone assumes I'm black when they hear my name. I guess I should be offended.
Maybe you really ARE Black & your photos are from Facebook.
flan
I should start CLAIMING I'm black and be all offended when people challenge that.

I have a strange name, and A LOT of people assume it is a man's name. And I hate that. I just do. We are looking for a Mr Be Happy, is he in? We are looking for D Worry, when will he be back? Is Mr Dona available? I hate it. Hate it hate it hate it. Couldn't even explain why, other than it is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I would much rather a gender neutral pronoun than all of these ridiculous people assuming I am male all the time.
A gender neutral pronoun is not going to fix this problem. People are not going to stop using "Mr." and "Miss", etc. And you really shouldn't get testy with them, it's not their fault they are not familiar with your name.
Sorry, but people with gender neutral names and very unique names just really shouldn't get upset about this. People call looking for "Mrs." all the time for my husband. His name is historically male in Europe but generally used for females here. Oh well.
