Oh I had such a day at work Friday. I am going in Saturday morning just to make sure the ship is still sailing. We had a mutiny today over 2 products that I discontinued - a powdered peanut butter and a dish soap that doesn't sell. 3 employees had a holy sh!t fit over it and ganged up on me, swearing and yelling at me for discontinuing the items. These are grown women over the age of 50 and they were yelling and sobbing about dish soap. FFS it doesn't sell!!! I won't have items on the shelf that don't sell!! Apparently they think they should get a vote on what items we carry in the store. Ummmm, nope, that's MY job. Your job is to stock the shelf.
I was told I had no idea what I was doing, I was not qualified to make a decision about products and that I was "regurgitating the crap that the GM fed you".
So that was fun. 2 of them are getting written up on Monday and the third is getting a warning. I have dealt with mutiny behavior before - this doesn't intimidate me. It's just unnecessary on their part. But if it's the game they want to play...game ON sisters!!

Powdered peanut butter? I've never heard of it. Sorry they acted like buffoons.
There is a reason you haven't heard of it. Lol. It's gross.
It's used in homemade protein shakes or for people who use peanut butter in recipies for the taste but don't want the fat you get when oil is added. And we have sold exactly 7 jars of it in 8 months. Not exactly a hot item. These women think they own the store and it should be run by committee. Businesses don't work like that. We are a co-op so we are a bit different, but we aren't a non-profit...we are a business!
Apparently the one woman's mother in law buys it. I offered to order her a case whenever she wanted it. She complained that a case is too much of it, she would never use it all. S M H.

Powdered peanut butter is actually called PB2. They have regular and chocolate. It is peanut butter that has been dehydrated and all the fat taken out of it. You reconstitute it with water and make a paste similar to peanut butter but with a tiny fraction of the fat and calories. I see it a lot in whole food places because a lot of athletes us it to add to smoothies to increase the protein without increasing the calories. Also, it is marketed as a dieting tool. Peanut butter is fantastically high in calories. So while it's actually really good for you you don't get much bang for the buck as far as it being a lot of food. This allows dieters to still have peanut butter without all the fat and calories. The only downside is that with anything when you take all the fat out of it the taste is not quite the same. So it's not the biggest seller in the world. I can't speak about dish soap but I can tell you I completely understand why they would pull the powdered peanut butter.

It is pricey. But for some people it's worth it. Athlete's, die hard weight loss. There are definitely people who use it and enjoy it but it's definitely NOT the same as regular PB. BTW, I have two jars of it in my pantry.

Hey NJN - Maybe you want to sell those two jars to MM's employee's MIL? You could make a good profit!
Great idea Tig. MM send em my number!

Any product that is just collecting dust on the shelves should be put on clearance and not restocked. Lesson #1 or retail. Those gals sound as though they are so entrenched in their jobs that they think they get to make all decisions.

I can't believe they treated the previous boss like that.
Taking DD and her friend to the outlet mall today. I don't normally do back to school shopping buying DD a ton of new clothes, but this has been a growth spurt summer for her and she does need a lot of things.

Ya'll are silly. PB2 makes great protein shakes. It also makes a great dip if you are on a diet and want something like celery and peanut butter. I will warn you. Do not attempt to make a sandwich out of it. I will not admit to how I know this is a bad idea!
flan, sorry about the panic attack.
ohfour, in case you don't come back I loved you...

I feel crappy. I am having to sit with SS at ten and plan an escape route from his home in case of more violence. DH wants him to take his half sister. I told him to get himself out and no one else.

Would it be a good compromise to say "if she is nearby and it is easy to grab her, then do so. If it would make you unsafe to get her, just get yourself out". ??? I think that's the most reasonable course of action in such an unreasonable situation. Poor thing. And thanks for being his rock. You are such a good mom to him.

The previous boss let them get away with whatever they wanted. Thus the "previous" part. 😉

Here's the problem. SS is not biologically his. So he doesn't give a rat's ass what happens to SS. SS's sister IS biologically his. So he is quite protective over her. I am sure that if he got the sister the step dad would turn on him even more. I just don't think it's a good idea. He's ten. He needs to save himself before he saves everyone else. This guy is such a douche.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, and for those in the paths of Hurricanes Erika, Ignacio and Jimena, please be safe, high and dry.
Visiting with friends today, all day. Hoping the weather will be cooler with no rain. I get to see my doggie nieces today, and cannot wait for dog time! It is the perfect way to relax after a crazy and demanding week at work.

Excellent point. I now think you have the right idea. Save your self SS!

Might a nurse know of a poison that can't be traced???
flan
Well, the problem is I'd have to have contact with him which I don't. And stepmom loves and adores him. He's her soulmate is what she tells SS. I know I'm wrong for what I did but last night I told SS his mom is dumb for staying with someone who treats her like that. He immediately defended his mom. He said it's not her fault he treats her badly and that she loves him.

I might try to tell him that she might love him, but ...
people do not hit or hurt the people they love, so it looks like he doesn't love HER.
(But I'm not there, so I have no idea what the reaction might be.)
