An 11-year-old boy killed an intruder who broke into his family's home, police say.
The child shot the 16-year-old suspect in the head in his house in St. Louis, Missouri, on Thursday, reports KTVI.
The unidentified boy was alone in the home with his 4-year-old sister when the suspect tried to break into the house several times, said police.
He reportedly finally tried unlocked front door at 10200 block of Hallwood Drive and entered around 2:30pm.
That is when the child shot the suspected intruder, say cops.

'An 11-year-old who was inside picked up a handgun and fired one round, striking the suspect and fatally wounding him,' said Sgt. Brian Schellman.
'It just seems that at this point anyone can pull the trigger on a weapon, it's very scary,' said Schellman.
A second 16-year-old suspect also reportedly fled the scene upon hearing gun shots. He was apprehended shortly after the shooting.
Police say they are investigating why the children were home alone.
They are also looking into why the child had access to a handgun, but cops say they think it's because their mother had purchased a gun because of previous break-in attempts.
Neither the name of dead suspect nor the second suspect has been released yet.
His body was removed from the home at 4:15pm.

Police say they are investigating why the child had access to a gun and why the kids were home alone
Cops say the suspected intruders tried to break into the home several times before trying the unlocked door (above, right)
'Where are they learning this from? Where's the parents?' asked a neighbor of the suspects.
Police say the mom is cooperating with authorities.
But at least one neighbor disagrees with the family's version of events, telling KMOV that the 11-year-old and the 16-year-old were arguing before the shooting.
'[The suspect] was always sitting on the porch, he never went inside the house,' the neighbor told the station.
The boy is in custody so police can question him, reports the station.
I don't necessarily have a problem with this. If your kids are home alone, why shouldn't they know where the gun is? Maybe this is a dangerous neighborhood. Not everyone can just pack up and move. He is 11 but he was at home. A bit different than an 11 yr old out at some strange place alone.
The nieghbors say the kid was on the porch, but the body was removed from inside the home. If they were breaking in and/or threatening the younger kids, I have no issue with this.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Well, I don't think an 11 yr old is going to have the wherewithal to drag a body into the house and then claim he was just coming through the front door if he really wasn't.
