Until Tuesday. They will have been here for a week. It's usually fine - I like them, I really do. But they come when they want and when we suggest better times - completely ignore it. I told them arriving this weekend and staying next week would be better, and actually helpful b/c the kids have an early release day Friday, we have more time off with the holiday, but they said no, they are coming the week before. OK.

A good night's sleep did NOT help. I'm still ticked off. Maybe I will hide all the coffee and go to Dunkin Donuts.
You didn't do that already?
You know, I think I'm more pissed off because they don't GET why I'm pissed off.
When they visit, is this their typical behavior?
flan
Yes. They are old and FIL is just used to being waited on - MIL has does it forever. But MIL claims to want to help, and then never actually does. I'm used to it and I'm actually more mad at DH than I am at them because he sees it, and HE doesn't help make up for the slack. Grrrrr.
Yesterday, my MIL did laundry while I was at work and I had kids' clothes in the dryer. She said "I was going to fold them, but I didn't have anywhere to do it." What? How about right there at the dryer? So, she just left them in the basket. Fine - its my kids' laundry, I'll fold it - but good grief.

Please don't fold that laundry yourself, instead, take the basket and MIL to the dryer, and show her that the top of the dryer is a great place to fold clothes.
OR, clear off the top of the dining room table for her.
Aren't your kids old enough to fold their own laundry?
(I think age 5 or 6 is old enough.)

No, I'm not going to lead my MIL up to the dryer and tell her to fold my family's laundry. It would have been nice if she HAD, but I'm not going to tell her to do it.

Well the fun part about our new place is that it's more convenient for the students to come over and hang out. So last night we had about 8 girls over for awhile. One spent the night with DD. Today she has a game and so does the brand new team of younger girls (14, 15, and 16 year olds). We will go watch the younger team to be supportive and encouraging. Of course it should only be about 90 degrees out so that will be fun.
Afterwards we are having the coaching staff over for drinks and appetizers. This means I need to get out of bed and clean, clean, clean. It's still looking like we just moved in. Nothing makes you clean and tidy up like company coming over.
Tomorrow we are headed to the State Fair. I will eat a bucket of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (I will post a pic, they are amazing) and a maple bacon funnel cake, and a sausage sandwich and a lemon shake. I can't wait!

Ed, our smoke detector only needs new batteries between 2-4 am. Every time.
Today is truly a sucky Saturday. I was perfectly fine on Thursday, but by yesterday evening I was coughing up a storm and had I fever. I am miserable today. It feels like bronchitis.
It's not fair! This is a three day weekend and probably the last chance to use the pool this season.
Whine, whine, whine.
Keep your fingers crossed that my guys don't catch whatever I have.
Leaves Tangerine a nice bowl of homemade soup from a distance.
LL, family is welcome to stay at my house as long as it is good for both parties. One side (especially those staying) do not dictate when they will be here. Does not matter who they are. Unless they are paying the bills and mortgage, they stay when it is better for us.
SB, hope work is busy enough not to have too much down time but slow enough to be easy.
ed, same for our smoke alarms. We installed them almost 10 years ago and we need to replace them. I have been trying to convince DH of that and to get a fire extinguisher too. May just go ahead and do it myself.
MM, full house is always fun. I think I would go into sugar shock if I ate all that at the fair.
Think I will go wake up DH now. It's 10:00 and I want to be on the road to DSSs by noonish (which means closer to 1:30-2:00 to DH). I am looking forward to see DSS and DIL. It's been too long.
LL - my inlaws once visited for the weekend and got mad at ME because I was doing laundry while we were talking and catching up. We just can't win with them.
Your real issue is your DH didn't help and didn't make sure DD did her job too. That's a bummer.

I think you should write Dear Prudence and ask her.

I needed to go to Kohls to get DS1 something else for his present. Guess whose house is on the way????
I saw Itty bitty (what a cute bedhead!) and asked her what she & Daddy were doing today. She told me they were going shopping.
I didn't stay long, went to Kohls, then decided to go to the Wal-Mart, also near DS2's house. I'm heading toward the checkout lanes & who do I seeing coming in????
Itty bitty grinned from ear to ear & said, "Grammy, were you waiting for us?"

This sounds so yummy.

It's not a sucky Saturday for me since DH is coming home.
LL, people probably talk about me too. Whenever I go somewhere I always ask if I can help. People always say no. Then I'll hear comments about how they did everything themselves. My MIL is like that. We go to her house and I'll ask her several times if she needs my help. She'll decline. Then she'll make some comment about how she's so tired from cooking the whole meal. I WILL HELP IF YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO! Geez, I don't read minds. It's annoying.

Woke up with a headache. Thankfully, the Advil shooed it away.
DS and I are watching Police Academy 1. DH is working.
It looks like it's going to rain at some point but this is AZ and clouds don't necessarily mean rain. It can smell like rain, look like rain, and still never rain.
I wantttttttttt a naaaaaaaaaaaap. But I need to go get ready to get DH.

Lol, so there's an empty lot across the street. No one has cut the grass or trimmed the trees and bushes in at least 2 years. Today some people showed up and started some much needed yard work. The skies opened up and it's been pouring since.

So the lawn mower fixit place dropped off a loaner for me today, so changed my plans and mowed the lawn. Love the loaner, It is a Toro, I think I will try to negotiate a price to buy it from the guy. If he won't sell it, buying a new Toro, just trying to find one that is not "personal paced", Reviews are not that great on them. Belt issue.
Took the dog for a walk. I am tired, may nap but if I do, I will be up late, so rather go to bed early. I have a friend to go visit, maybe get that done and come home by 10.

DH is sleeping soundly. Trying to readjust to our time zone. Layla was so happy to see him home she broke out in hives.

Poor thing. I am glad he is home and you get some time with him.
I went to the fair. I ate a sausage sammich, a bucket of French fries (shared), maple bacon funnel cake (shared), fried walleye on a stick, corn on the cob, a bucket of cookies (shared) and a lemon shake and a glass of wine. I tried to keep it classy with the wine! Lol Too stuffed to move, but happy.

My MIL doesn't seem to offer to help until right as I'm about done.
