Yes, thank goodness. The sun is out; things are drying. The typhoon(s) have passed, leaving a lot of destruction in their wake. Sad to say, many of the homes that were destroyed were just rebuilt by people who lost their homes in the 3/11 earthquake.... Talk about bad luck and a sorry state of affairs. We go through it with only drenching rains (unending for 4 days) and, due to that, I discovered the chalking around the kitchen window had to be redone, which I have already accomplished....
3:45 am and Carlee wakes us up with a grand mal seizure. Took us forever to get her out of it. Called the 24 hour vet and they said take her to the regular vet in the am and just keep an eye on her until then. Now I have two loads of laundry going because she peed all over.

Going in late today. One perk of the job, I can make my own hours depending on what is going on with the team. It's been raining a lot, not like Japan though! Commute will be slow. I'm hoping I avoid it all since I am going in later.

Karl, I'm glad you are ok after the rains. Sorry Carlee had a seizure NJN, that had to be scary.
Vacation countdown! Sooo much to do before company arrives, ugh.

NJN, sorry to hear about Carlee. Is this the first time for her to have a seizure or has she had them in the past? So darn hard when our pets cannot really talk to us...

Karl, glad you came threw the storm safely.
NJN, sorry about your pet.
SB, enjoy your vacation!
Good morning, IKWTDS, Lily and ...... flan!
Can we say serious body drag?
Gosh, everything hurts.
DH will be happy he doesn't have to cook a meal tonight. I think he's getting desperate..

DS1 rarely got in trouble at school...except for one time in second grade. He & a friend were in the cafeteria. One of them said "Buh," and the other said "itch."
He maintained that neither one of them actually cussed.
Sooo, my commute didn't happen. According to traffic reports, my 40 min commute would have taken about 2.5 hours this morning. I had a ton to get done so I decided to stay home to work and also had two meetings. Sooo I am almost caught up with work and didn't have to drive! I have about an hour or two of work left.
Funny on the "out of the mouths of babes" stories!

Yesterday during recess, the teachers noticed a man in his 30's laying in the tall grass on school property. The kids were immediately brought inside (my boys as well) and the school was placed on lockdown. He was carrying a knife when he was arrested.
Computer dragging and unknown ghosts making errors in it the IT dept can't figure out. I AM ready for the day to be over already Going camping this weekend with DD and her fiancé and his 6yoa nephew. Nice hot days on the boat and cool evening by the campfire so looking forward to it yawn

I just got a call from the principal. Bunny yelled the phrase, "Holy, Schit!" in front of the entire school during a fire drill.
I didn't even know he knew that word. I've never heard him say it. At least he told the principal he heard it from tv.
Second week of school, people. Fantastic.
That is great.
This is so funny. It's the moment that we, as parents, never want to hear for our kids, laugh about it when it's someone elses, and basically every kid gets caught saying a bad word at one time or another. So funny. You'll be able to tell this story when he gets old and has g/f's.
Don't know what happened with the dog last night. One minute she was sleeping and then all of a sudden she started doing this running motion in her sleep. At first I thought she was dreaming. But then her legs got really stiff and she started hyperventilating and foaming at the mouth. Her bowels and bladder released. She wouldn't come out of it. She bit her tongue. So we also had blood on top of spit, urine, and poop. The other two dogs jumped up and moved far away. They eyed her suspiciously and would not go near her. I guess their spidey senses were going off. She flailed around for quite awhile and then came out of it but still wasn't breathing right. She got really confused. You could tell she had non idea where she was. Her eyes were really red too. She kept pacing. She really wanted to see the dog in our bathroom mirror. Anyway, for about an hour her breathing remained labored and she was disoriented. We stayed up with her about an hour. She was acting really funny. I washed sheets. We called the emergency number and they said all they would do is bloodwork and probably not be able to tell us why it happened and they'd charge us about $600. We decided we were not putting out that much money if they couldn't help. They told us to call our vet today. She seems fine today though.
About a week ago she had a similar experience on a much smaller scale. I thought she was just dreaming but it may have been the same thing.

It was crazy scary. We just got off the phone with our vet and he said if it was just one seizures just to monitor her. Could have been a freak thing. He said if she has another one to call.

LOL! Sorry, I know its funnier when it's someone else's kid. Kids...
As young parents, you will get used to this.
The principal kept giggling while she was telling me what happene. She said that he had used it in the proper context and she mentioned that Bunny is so cute several times, but that that kind of language was inappropriate etc.
I called Husband to tell him and we both couldn't stop laughing.
Now we have to talk to Bunny about this without laughing.

Thanks for the update; hope this is a one time thing....
I left work on time today !!!!! It's a miracle. Of course I am going in tomorrow on my day off...but DH and DD are off so no one will miss me. I am catching up on paperwork and hiding at my desk, I won't tell anyone I am there.
Headed out shopping tonight. I will be looking at furniture and such. I hope I can control myself and not purchase - just comparison shop.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My LL Bean tables should arrive in a few weeks. Didn't have to even leave the house. :)

That's too easy...waaaaaaay too easy. I will be too tempted to make a purchase. I hate to do anything permament without sleeping on it first.

DS has figured how to open the "childproof" latches on the kitchen cabinets. He is having a LOT of fun "cooking" his Legos and such in the skillets he can now access. To his credit, he's mostly staying out of the pantry. He brought me some glass jars from the pantry but has since left it alone.
DH is thoroughly unamused that DS thwarts our every attempt to keep him out of stuff. DH also hasn't learned the first rule of toddlers: If you don't want him to get it, put it UP!
A couple more minutes then DH is off work for the day. Woohoo!
Tang ~
At least your school is doing fire drills alredy! Good for them!!!!!
All of you other Moms -
Have you done a fire drill at your house? DH and I used to do them twice a year - holding a candle under a smoke detector until it started shrilling at 3:00 a.m., and seeing what our kids would do. After the first drill, they all knew what to do - even when we sneakily moved one of the kids to a neighbor's house!!!!! They didn't go back in searching for her, but kept screaming that she was missing! Good for them!
SS said they had a soft lock down at school today. And that it was not a practice. I asked what the difference between a soft lock down and a hard lock down was. He said a soft lock down is when someone who shouldn't be is on the grounds or around the school. A hard lock down is when someone who shouldn't be in the school is is in there. So I don't know if they really had one or if they were practicing. Hard to tell with him. I think a lot of schools were being extra cautious today.

Momala, that is a hard core fire drill! We have had fire drills at home where we set the alarm off and showed Bunny how to get out of the house and where to meet.
Maybe we should do one like yours.
