“It’s really misusing the authority of the coach to promote his personal religious agenda.”

VILLA RICA, Ga. — A Georgia school district is investigating after video of a mass baptism was posted on YouTube.
The video, posted by First Baptist Villa Rica, was shot on school grounds just before football practice.
“We had the privilege of baptizing a bunch of football players and a coach on the field of Villa Rica High School! We did this right before practice! Take a look and see how God is STILL in our schools!” the caption with the video reads.
WXIA-TV reached out to church officials for comment, but were told the pastor was not available.
The video on YouTube has been removed by the user by Tuesday evening.
The Carroll County School District said in a released statement that it was “looking into the specifics of this situation and will take appropriate steps to ensure all state and federal laws are followed.”
The Freedom from Religion Foundation sent a letter to the district Tuesday (Sept. 1) asking it to “immediately investigate and take action to ensure there will be no further illegal religious events.”
Let me guess...you're pretending to be a Christian? After saying the poor schizophrenic woman who was tazed was nothing but a waste of oxygen and won't be missed?

More nonsense. People just looking for crap to get offended and upset about.
If a Muslim football coach in Illinois or Nebraska used his position to coerce Christian and Jewish teenagers to participate in a ceremony confirming their faith in and commitment to Allah and Mohamed, on the public school's football field, would you be pissed?

Believe it or not, no really is an acceptable answer in Georgia.
And no one there cared or thought it was not ok to do.

Priceless.
The word you are looking for is hypocrite.

B.S. !!!
You can say that when you've been a JEWISH student in a mostly Christian high school. Peer pressure is real can often be overwhelming.

Sorry.
Never was a victim of peer pressure.
Know why?
I knew how to say no.
That's all a person has to do.
One of the first things I taught my kids too.

How old were you when you first started smoking? Drinking? (Don't answer if you don't want to.)
Peer pressure is a BIG factor in teen smoking drinking and using drugs.
I was 18 when I bought my first pack of cigarettes. Never was pressured by anyone.
I drank when I wanted to. I didn't drink when I didn't want to. I think I was 19.
Yes, it can be a big factor if you don't know how to say no.

We don't know that anyone was coerced into anything.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

You are full of crap. You are in favor of deliberately killing innocent babies--but now pretend you care about someone who is a CRIMINAL accidentally dying.
Yes, it's unfortunate she died--but the deputies did nothing wrong.

As for the OP - they should not have done the baptism at the school. But if they did it of their own free will - then the school has no right to stop them. The question is, who arranged it, a school employee or the one's getting baptized? If a school employee arranged it, that's a problem. If the kids arranged it themselves, that is their right.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Well, the School does have a right to stop them. They can't use School Grounds without Board approval and facility use approval, etc. You cannot use the football field for anything you want. So, the Board could have said No. However, they apparently were fine with this. And, if the Public wasnt' fine with it, then they will have the opportunity to vote out the Board members who approved it if they so choose.

Yes, they do. But this sounds like they probably didn't know it was going to happen. The use was approved for a game, with baptism slid in at the beginning.

Well, that's funny Husker because now you are using the same argument that the Pro Choice used. It is "legal", Therefore it is OK. Funny.
They didn't intend to kill her.
However, if you are going to attack other people and deliberately throw pee on them--I don't care what the setting is--you are going to get a beat down, and you deserve it.
Plus, your argument is a complete failure. Yes, law enforcement officers being able to use force is legal--and it should be. Otherwise, how are they supposed to do their jobs? Even through all the "black lives matter" campaign and all the things going on in society right now, NO ONE really seriously questions the legality of the police using force--even deadly force.
They may want more judicious use of it--especially if it is deadly, but even Al Sharpton recognizes that there are situations that require it.
In fact, that is how tazers came about--they were supposed to be a non-lethal alternative to firearms. In this case, she did die, and that's unfortunate--but again, they didn't intend for that to happen.
I don't see how you can make the argument that law enforcement should never be able to use force, even deadly force, to do their jobs. That's ridiculous.

I'm having a terrible time keeping threads separate..
As to the OP, much ado about nothing.
Free choice of those who participated. And, yes, schools CAN allow an event like this to take place on school grounds. Community events take place in school facilities all the time. Get over it. Or bar ALL none school events, period.

No kidding.
My nephew and niece go to school and church in the same building.
Public school.
Church uses the gyn on Sundays and Wednesday nights.

When I was in high school we had a Bible study group in the morning before school. We had to get it pre approved and we were told when and where we could meet. As long as we stayed within those guidelines we were fine. Any group could start a religious class/study time as long as they followed the same guideline.

We had that as well. It was FCA but anyone could be there.
What I was talking about is regular, full on services. Been like that since the high school was built.

Excellent point. I guess it just depends on who Husker thinks is worth living. Fabulous attitude, and a Christian one, too.
His attitude certainly speaks volumes. I know I am truly inspired by his compassion and his "what would Jesus do" attitude. Not. Honestly, the fact that he calls himself a Christian and then calls his fellow human beings a waste of oxygen makes me wonder if he knows what the word Christian even means. I am certainly glad I don't go to HIS church.

Um, not sure where you are getting that. I started an entire thread on that saying and how foolish it is since no matter how hard we try, we CAN'T do what Jesus would do. He would heal the sick by laying his hands on them. He would feed 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and two fish.
I can't do that stuff--can you?
