Neat Floor-Cleaning Trick

HM_Clean_floor.jpg

Don’t you hate it when you have a grease spill in your kitchen? You wipe…and wipe…and wipe, and the slipperiness just won’t go away. Here’s what to do…

To get that grease or oil up a lot faster off your floor, pour some flour on the spill…just enough to cover it completely. Wait one or two minutes for the flour to absorb the grease, then clean it all up with a few paper towels.

More easy ways to clean…

Dawn dish detergent works too.

Or lemon juice.

Stupid idea. Flour is the worst thing to have to clean up.

Use the shop vac to clean up the flour.

A grease spill is the worst. I use Dawn on a paper towel and it works just fine. Blot up the majority with a paper towel and clean up the rest with some Dawn.

Ever have 70 pounds of hot grease spill across the floor?

If you didn't stay right on top of the cooks, they would try to drop two vats into the filter at a time.

It would not hold it.

We just let it cool enough to do something with it, usually didn't take long.

Then you use the squeegee and paper towels to get as much as we could.

Then break out the hose and pressure wash as much as we could while dumping industrial strength grease cutter down the drain.

Then we deck scrubbed the floor.

Then we mopped.

It was so annoying.

IKWTDS ~
Actually, THIS flour would be very easy to pick up - it has absorbed the grease, and is now in pebbles about the size of oatmeal. It isn't going to "fly away" at the touch of a broom.

I always used baking soda, not flour. Same idea though.
