So remember my apprehension about my friend from Canada? All for naught!
We had severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon and night, so pitching a tent was out of the question. She called me on her way here and asked if I could find a couple of kennels she could call to board the dog for the night! Hooked her up with one less than a half mile from my house. She loved it!
Then there was they guy she brought with her...what a GREAT guy. Straight off the commune. Lives off the Earth, has no table manners whatsoever, hasn't owned a TV in 30 years, and is one of the most intelligent and kind spirited people I've ever met. It felt like I had known him my whole life.
But the best was....
Last time she was here, we went to hear G play and the venue had this totally awesome wine cork table. I loved it. I was joking about trying to steal it. Well, she MADE me one. One 100 times better than the one at the venue. Absolutely gorgeous. It took her weeks to make it. I was crying happy tears. I don't even have words. Here are a couple of snaps, but they don't do it justice...
LOL, not all of it. She ordered the corks from somewhere...
But that wasn't the best part of the weekend....
I got to have the babies all to myself Saturday and Sunday. Pure heaven. They were soooo good. We colored and read and played and played. And every time I did something for Sweetness, she said, Thank you Mamama, I love you. Lots of kisses and hugs and cuddling. One of the best days of my life...

G is supposed to fly out today for a show. Flight leaves at noon today. He just got a call that the flight is canceled and there are no other flights today.
Which brings me to a question. If the band cannot get to the venue because the airlines canceled the flight the day of, shouldn't the airlines be on the hook for the payment to the band and the refund of the tickets since there is no show?
(this is hypothetical, they will probably be able to get there, but what if they can't? BIL was stuck in Charlotte for 3 days, he could not get to his destination nor could he get home)

Cork table is beautiful o-four. glad the visit went well. Hope your dd and her team have a good ball season lgs. Good luck on your internship jbea, and flan I hope you will feel better. I hate Mondays. I didn't sleep well last night and haven't really had a good nights sleep in a long time.
Wonderful about your visit, ohfour! I'm glad it worked out!
As for the cork table....I have a wonderful heat pad made from corks. It's like your table, but on a much smaller scale, and framed with a cherry frame. I use it on the table to put hot foods on to protect my table. It's a conversation piece and I love it. A friend of DH's made it for him when we were dating.
O4, glad you had a wonderful weekend with the grand babies!! I LOVE that table!!!
LGS, glad there wasn't much of a dent in the car. And your dd is so pretty!
It's been a busy day here in Czechland. I processed and froze 40 quarts and 22 pints of corn this morning.
I did 31 quarts of (seasoned) tomato juice on Saturday night.
Can you tell it's canning season?
Gosh. I remember canning season. Broke beans till my figures were bruised more than I can count.
Shucked corn till my hands were lousy with tiny little cuts.
And picked up potatoes till I couldn't stand up.
But what I wouldn't give for quart of granny's beans.
And the memories.
You know that's the way I remember my great grandmother. I was 12 when she passed. But I remember sitting in a chair beside her and breaking beans and she'd hum and sing hymnals and tell stories from when she was a girl.
Thanks Czech. Sweet memories.

My dog had another seizure this morning. We have to take her in on Wednesday.

We've already called the vet. I love our vet. He came right to the phone. We're going in Wednesday for blood tests. He said she probably has idiopathic epilepsy. Just like what humans get. He said two and half in dog years is like a teenager in human years. He said this is usually when dogs and humans start showing the signs of epilepsy. He said medication depends on how often and how long she has the seizures.

Why do people come to lawyers and ask advice, and then not follow it? And then expect us to get them out of a pickle when they didn't listen?
Ever wonder why or how "in a pickle" came to be a saying?
And then I wonder what kind of pickle. I love a good dill.

Why do people come to lawyers and ask advice, and then not follow it? And then expect us to get them out of a pickle when they didn't listen?
Because basically they think they're right and they just want to hear you tell them so. Just like most people who ask for advice. In my life I have found that 99.9% of the time when people ask for advice they are really just wanting you to agree that they did the right thing.

Why do people go to doctors and ask for weight loss advice, and then not follow it? And them expect the medical profession to get them out of a medical pickle like diabetes, morbid obesity and hypertension?
We are getting our milk from a new supplier at work. Still organic, still local, still affordable. What should have been a 3 minute conversation with the team to talk about it turned into an all day affair. Fielding questions, concerns, etc sucked up my entire day. This team is SO resistant to change that it's disturbing. I have to justify every single thing info with them - even when I have my supervisor's approval. There is just so much mistrust. Making my life so much more difficult than it needs to be.
I just want to scream "stock the darn milk and shut the f@%* up!"

I'm sorry, NJN. Dad's little MaltiPoo has seizures and we have her on a daily pill. As long as she's on them, she's fine.
Thanks. Before this I never knew pets could have them! He talked to us about meds. Right now we're charting how often and how long she has them. Then we have to let the vet know so he can choose the right treatment.

Maybe that's exactly what you need to do. Without the colorful embellishment of course.
It's hard taking over a team sometimes.
Wonder if there is a back story to the constant questions and resistance.
