Is it better to care or not to care? Is it better to be passionate and just be around people who dont give a schit? Or should you just not give a schit?
I try to remember that I'm one of those people who suck to others.
We all suck to someone.

And on the really sucky days, I turn up the radio and jam out to classic rock.
It's amazing how hard it is to stay in a funk while belting out Born to be Wild.

For me in general, it is better to care and better to be passionate. Many times I am drawn to give a s**t. This makes it difficult sometime when I am around people who don't give one.
I am sure a lot of people think I suck, but they never say it, they just treat me like I have a communicable disease. I know (and have been told in negative or no uncertain terms) that I am perceived as a bit different by others in terms of my thoughts, perceptions and feelings. But I am not going to change who I am just to be who people want me to be (it took me awhile and a lot of work, practice, patience, learning and introspection to get to where I am now). So I suck to some. Of course, not having lived the lives I have, I do not expect them to understand. It could be worse. I could actually really suck by being mean, rude, obnoxious, obscene, narcissistic and confrontational, but that is not my style.
LGS, I am not sure what happened to make you ask the questions you did. Probably something I may not understand. Yes, some people suck sometimes and some suck all the time. But whatever is going on in your life, I do hope that you are able to come to terms with it or accept it and move on. Some people will just not change because they are totally oblivious to the fact that they are the problem. I wish you well and much peace.
As for a dog, I would love to have one of my own, but I rent and they are not allowed. When I visit friends, their two little dogs are so happy to see me. They put on a floor show even before I enter the door. They make me smile.
I've got 3 little kittens who will be ready to go to their forever homes in 4 weeks - 1 totally black, one black with white on its face, and 1 tiger with white paws. Any takers?
We just brought home a foster kitty. He was placed in the shelter 2 weeks ago and was so terrified he flipped the litter box over to hide under. Hopefully he will do better here and we will keep him. He dashed behind the sofa the second we got home and opened the cage. The owners are military and moving and could only take two pets. This sweetie got left behind.

Once he gets to know and trust you, I bet he will always be by your side. That is how Sonny is. He had been alone and abandoned and always had to fight for food as a pup. Took him a year before he stopped hogging his food. And he loves me and wants to be on my lap all the time. So loving and annoying at the same time!

That's how Carlee is too. She was found starved. We've had her a year now and she doesn't just ask to be petted. She flops all sixty five pounds of herself on you. And if that doesn't get your attention then she will start rolling over. Like IKWTDS said, so loving and so annoying all at the same time.

I'm not an animal lover. I'm not a hater, but I do hate the way they make homes and yards look and smell.
That's because people don't clean up after them. It's like having small children, you can just expect everything to stay spotless. You have to go around and clean the areas they go in.
I am really tired of people who don't care. And, yes, everybody can't care about everything. But, too many people complain but don't do a darn thing to help change anything for the better.

Thank you, but no. Sushi the Destroyer hates other cats. He does like dogs, though.

I understand this. Some people really do care, others never will.
I tend to worry about my own little corner of the world. That is all I have time to give toward. And, yes, I have to be selective with my time.
No one can do everything, but a few can do a lot together. Just pick one thing to support and let the rest go for someone else to handle or change.
The complainers will always complain. You can't change them, but you can ignore them.

Well, you can't really ignore them because they effect what you do and your kids. If YOU take initiative to do something around here, then somehow that is a "slam" to someone else.

Ahh I think I get your issue now. You have run into small town gossip. I'm sorry, nothing you can do about it or make it better.

What IKWTDS said. I think most of us have ran into this problem.
Then they wonder why you stop volunteering.
