Yippee Skippy for Friday! Been a rough week. Tomorrow is my last zumba class. My gym is dropping some classes due to low attendance and my beloved zumba is getting the axe. Thing is, now that summer is over things pick up. Oh well, she has three other gyms making offers already. I may dump this gym, I have a free membership at my hospital gym and I can buy a punch card for the place she is going.

Four year olds are exhausting! BFF and Nephew18 and Niece4 are here from Florida! I am so happy they are here even if it is for a few days. N18 is here because his Gmom is not doing well (different fathers).

We have only been to breakfast and the Amish market so far. Visiting his Gmom this afternoon and then more shopping.

Bacon burgers for dinner. Then either movies or fire pit.

Okay guys, help a non-mom out. I don't have very many friends with kids, and when I hang out with the friends who do have kids I learn a lot. And i have a lot of questions. But I can't ask most of them because they'd be offended.

Like, why is your 2 year old (ok, 27 month old) not potty training? Why are you totally diaper dependent??

When I asked if they were going to start, the mom said no, because the kid is worse than the cats when it comes to running the toilet paper roll onto the floor. I'm like . .. wha??

The oldest turns 7 in two months, so it's not like she's a new mom. Is this weird?

#2 seemed a little better. When I do the percussion therapy, his nose fills up rather than his mouth, I've noticed. I guess it's better than nothing.

I took a sick day today. I need some time for myself.

It's not strange at all, Tig.

I didn't potty train mine until they were almost 3 years old.

I waited until I noticed that they were sleeping through the night, and waking up with a dry diaper.

That was my big clue that they were ready.

And, the bright side is, training them took one day! smile

Sometimes it is finding the convenient time to potty train them with the least distractions. My dd waited till two 1/2 to potty train grand daughter since they were in the process of moving to another country and wanted to wait till they were settled and my gd was adjusted to her new home. It only took a few days. Some are ready earlier then others.

One of mine was almost 3, the other, 3 1/2 before they were potty trained. I'm told boys take longer. I was in no hurry. There's something to be said for diapers. Especially when attending sporting events and taking road trips. Anyone can take a diaper away and cart their kid off to the toilet every hour. But that's not potty training. That's just making sure they have an opportunity to drain their bladder. Toilet training is when they know when they have to go and then going in the toilet. Being able to hold it during the night or have the knowledge to get up and go in the bathroom. Their muscles need to be developed in order to do this. And they're not physically able at 18 months, from what I understand.

Yes boys are harder. The little girl I'm watching will be three in December and is not potty trained yet. Some people say you can train them as early as six months by taking their diaper off every half hour or hour and holding them over the toilet. IMO, that is not training the child. That is training the adult. Most kids potty train between two and three years old. That's the norm I would say. Some a little earlier and some a little later. I knew a lady one time that her daughter was trained at about 18 months but she just kept getting diaper rash over and over. I think the little girl felt more comfortable without the diapers so trained earlier.

I got my kids out of diapers as soon as possible.

For several reasons.

Caitlyn had issues with constipation from about 4 months and she had such sensitive skin, she seemed to keep a rash.

Jesse wasn't hard because I learned taking Caitlyn to the bathroom was easy and efficient so I started taking him.

Aaron was just 18 months younger than Jesse, so it was easy to get him to "be like big bubba".

And I just couldn't keep spending that much on diapers.

And I hate changing a dirty diaper. Wet diapers don't bother me, but dirty diapers gag me.

Just got a call that one of our closest friends died. They gave him 6 months 3 weeks ago. We were supposed to go to a party for him next week...with all his musician friends. The last jam session.

he took a nap this afternoon...and didnt wake up.

We are heartbroken. ..

Thanks Geeks....just heard back from his wife. The jam session is still on, just moved a week. THAT will be his memorial service. People singing the songs he wrote. He wrote hits for Kenny Rogers, Vince gill, even Blake Shelton. He is revered in the country music world. Should be a hell of a memorial! Well deserved...
