Good morning.

Heavy rain last night, continuing through today and maybe tomorrow.

I hope everyone has some fun today...

I have, against my better judgment, named a calf Lolita. One of the guys adores her mother, Lola, and begged to be allowed to name the baby, which does look just like her mother.
Still. . . Lolita?
He is unaware of the connotations of the name, and I can't bring myself to explain them.

IMHO, Lolita is just a name. Not everyone has to put a label on the name.

About 1 1/2 inches of rain last night. Much needed for my poor plants. We've been watering like crazy, but they were obviously stressed from the dry months we have had. The rain was a welcome change here.

I'm home with #1 today. Mostly to evaluate his ability to perform basic needs for himself. He didn't sleep last night either, apparently. It hurts when he wiggles his fingers, but otherwise seems to be okay. He's supposed to get allergy shots today so I'm not sure what his pediatrician will say.

Oldest DD (with the 5 kids) wanted me to Lysol my whole house yesterday. They all refuse to come in.

Can you imagine her house with this bug?

And, thanks. smile

He broke his arm? Jeez your family has had quite the injuries/illnesses lately. I guess that is to be expected with two little buys. My brother went to the ER at least once a year when he was a kid.

Morning everyone.

FNW, what I remember about breaking my arm was it hurt like crazy for day or two but then it stopped completely.

It's the trauma to the tissue more than the bone.

You can ice through the cast.

But don't let it get too cold cause that causes pain.

And elevate.

That seemed to make the biggest difference.

The hard part is getting him to sit still. I tightened his sling to keep it elevated higher. He has an appt. Monday for the hard cast. They could get him in Friday, but I was worried the swelling would not have gone down by then.

I know. And I'm still really sick, too, with a cold. I was afraid I was having a heart attack yesterday on the way to the hospital. Damned people wouldn't do what I told them to do. It was too much.

She called me every few minutes when she was upstairs and I was down. no

I lost 4 pounds..

There's a lady at my woman's group. And she was married for years and years and years. To an alcoholic that beat her. Her girls are all grown now. They all have drug problems of their own. One of her daughters got all three of her kids taken away by CPS which, HERE, is unheard of. She wanted to stay married and not get a divorce. She prayed really hard about it. Everyone supported her in the decision she made to stay. Even though he beat her. But she felt marriage was sacred so she stayed. Then he had an affair. I think that kind of pushed things over the edge. She decided to leave him. And we were all supportive of that given the situation. So she just left the guy about six weeks ago. She hadn't even found a place of her own and was staying with friends here and there. We are not in the position to put her up right now but I offered to meet with her and take her to lunch or dinner, my treat.

Last night she announced she was getting married. She hasn't even filed for a divorce! Apparently she was on the internet and met some guy in the Army who is serving in Afghanistan right now. He has a grown daughter. She has known him for three weeks. They are engaged. She said he has a lot of money and is going to buy her a nice home. Everything is wonderful. He's so sweet and is going to take care of her for the rest of her life.

I listened quietly. I didn't say anything. Everyone was telling her they were happy she found someone that makes her happy. I see disaster written all over this. And while I have no room to talk about fast moving internet relationships I wasn't coming out of a long term abusive relationship with a drunk. Ugh. I hope it works but I have a feeling there is going to be heartache down the road.

I think the fact that she hasn't actually met him in person is a pretty valid concern. As is the rebound factor. And the still married bit.

All around, I think your concern is justified.

Yeah, asking someone to marry you that you've never met seems bad. She really needs to focus on getting a divorce and getting some counseling. Although that will be a cold day in hell.

I just got a message from one of my sisters. Her daughter's kids where in a school that had a school shooting this morning.

Gosh, that's crazy!!

My sister's grand kids are okay, and were a block away from the shooting site. TG

A friend of mine was married briefly to a woman who left him for a man she chatted with on the internet. She packed up and moved to Australia to live with him, sight unseen. I often wonder how that worked out.

NJN well, yes I agree a divorce should be her priority and I say that it seems it will not be a match made in Heaven...but...good luck to her

FNW, I saw the pictures on FB, ouch is all I can say, poor guy~

It was a dark overcast wet and foggy day here and now crystal blue skies not a cloud to be seen and bright shining sun shimmering off everything and the air smells fabulous! we have the office doors and windows open and it smells fabulous!

I looked it up out of curiosity.  Momala has it right.

Beckon call

The phrase at [one’s] beckon call is an eggcorn derived from a mishearing of the at [one’s] beck and call, which means freely available or ready to comply. The mistaken phrase is sort of understandable because someone who is at your beck and call is ready to be beckoned. Still, attentive readers are liable to see beckon call as wrong.
