Hi all! I hope everyone is having a good day. Gotta love modern America. We had a malfunction in the electronic door system and the department was locked out of every door except the locker rooms that also have a key pad along with the badge system. Phones weren't working either, lol.

I have Dunkin Donuts this morning. We have gotten lazy & stopped baking birthday cakes. Now we get birthday donuts. So much easier.

IKR? I considered getting a jelly one since I got ripped off on the glazed but then if that wasn't fresh I'd have all those calories & more disappointment.

Happy Thursday! Well, sort of. I got an email last night after I got home from my internship. Apparently my criminal background check is under review and I cannot return until they get things figured out. If I was to guess, I'd say that HR never ran my background in the first place. I am a volunteer. I am not getting paid for this. OH well, I get a few days off which I need to get caught up on school work.

Most DDs do not make their donuts on premise anymore. They are shipped in from a warehouse.

Well that would explain the decline in freshness. Thanks for the info. We have a new place called Duck Donuts. I haven't heard of them before but they pull in the crowds at least on weekends. My friend went to pick up donuts & the line was out the door with a 20 minute wait. They didn't wait so I have no idea what the fuss is about.

Whenever I was in the hospital with a broken bone or other childhood mishap, which was quite often, my dad would bring me jelly donuts from DD. They are now a comfort food for me. Forever associated with someone taking care of me. I know, weird.

It would be fine as an extra, but I'm a traditionalist. I prefer to "cut" the cake, not the donut.

I like the cupcake cakes too.

For a second wedding, I'd do one of those.

But I also like alternatives to the traditional cake.

Yes, it looks like they would get stale really quickly. Donuts don't stay fresh very long. Even hours old donuts become hard and the glaze becomes icky. I'm not much of a donut person to begin with though. I only like them fresh. And by fresh I mean right off the fryer. And I agree with FNW that I'd want something to cut. I like the idea of a small cake to cut for a second wedding paired with cupcakes.
