A morbidly obese Rhode Island man who claimed he was a victim after being kicked out of a hospital for ordering a pizza is caught on camera harassing a nurse and mocking taxpayers who paid for his treatment in disturbing online videos.
Steven Assanti, 33, from Cranston was getting the help he needed to combat his 'eating addiction' at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence until the nearly 800 pound man was told he could no longer stay after breaking the rules.
Assanti, who had managed to lose 20 pounds over the past few months, was supposed to remain at the hospital until his weight dropped from 778 pounds to 550 pounds, so that he could undergo gastric bypass surgery.
However, a few YouTube videos that Assanti filmed of himself have emerged and appear to show another side of the obese man who garnered sympathy for his recent predicament of being 'homeless.'

In a YouTube video titled Nurse I Need Help, Assanti can be seen about 50 seconds into the footage excessively yelling for a nurse to come to his hospital room because a machine wouldn't stop making a beeping noise.
'What the 'f' is going on here? Nurse, nurse, nurse,' Assanti can be heard screaming at the top of his lungs in the 2012 video.
Assanti yelled 'nurse' at least 30 times in the three minute and 51 second long video, where he wrote in the description that he's 'abusing hospital staff'.

A nurse eventually responds to Assanti by asking him through the room's speaker system how she can help him.

'Yes, the machines beeping. Seriously, I'm going to die. It's giving me a headache,' Assanti answered.
'You're going to die because the machine's beeping is that what you said?' the nurse further asked Assanti.
'I'm getting a headache from it really bad,' he responded.
The video ends after the nurse politely tells an animated Assanti to hold on for assistance.

Assanti (pictured) managed to lose 20 pounds during his stay at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, but was asked to leave when he broke the rules of his care plan earlier this week
The one minute and 28 second long video ends with Assanti laughing disturbingly.
In addition to those two videos, it appears as though he has uploaded a number of other videos to the popular site where he claims girls throw themselves at him.
Earlier this week after he was kicked out of the hospital, Assanti's father, Steven Veilette, said that he can't take his son home and has no idea what to do.
‘I just don’t know who to turn to,’ he told NBC10. ‘I called everybody, everybody you can think of in the state of Rhode Island and nobody seems to be able to help me.’
He added that even if he was able to get his son up the stairs of his home, it would almost certainly mean returning to his previous eating pattern.

Veilette managed to get his son into the back of his SUV and vows to keep driving until he finds a permanent solution.
He took his son to the ER at Kent Hospital, but they were not permitted to spend the night.
A social worker at the hospital told the pair that a facility in North Attleborough may be able to help, which Veilette said they intend to visit.
Following coverage in the media of his plight, Assanti took to his Facebook page to thank his supporters.
In a video posted online Wednesday, he said: ‘Hopefully, in the near future there will be a positive follow-up with my weight loss.
‘I would like to thank all my supporters as well on my Facebook page and also to all the negative comments that give me a thicker skin.’
Rhode Island Hospital declined to comment when approached by Daily Mail Online.

I have taken care of patients like this in my nursing career... I could say a lot of things but people would think I'm a horrible person.

If his father manages to get him upstairs, it doesn't sound like he will be able to get back down again, sooooo HOW will he resume his bad eating habits???
Geez, feed him sensible food, and if he won't stick to a sensible diet, kick him to the curb and make him sort himself iut. You are NOT doing him any favors by enabling him.
People in this situation don't get there alone. They have people who bring them platters of food to their bedrooms. If they order food for delivery, the co-dependent person will go to the door and pay for it and deliver it to them. It isn't just the morbidly obese person who is sick - it's the enablers too.

I am fairly certain the father lives in subsidized housing and can't have his son live their, may be elderly housing. Anyway, if this kid thinks his 15 minutes of fame is going to get him compassion, he is wrong. He was given the gift of a very expensive weight loss program, signed a contract, and blew it. And so now blames the hospital for his doings. And that is the cruxt of his problem.

MM is right. People don't get this way on their own. Once they hit a certain weight they need someone to take care of them. Someone to bring them food. Whoever is bringing it is just as much at fault.

I don't think people realize how dangerous it is to be this big. Not just because it's unhealthy but literally it is dangerous. We had a lady in a nursing home I worked in and she was not quite 600 pounds. She had a heart attack one day and it took 15 firemen and medics to get her in place to where they could do CPR. And when you are that big the compression's are almost impossible to achieve. You have to push down so hard through so much to even reach the heart. This woman didn't make it.
There was a time where I worked in the hospital that we had two men that both weighed 650 pounds each. They put them in the same room and were given their own nurse because they were so high care. Other nurses got about eight patients apiece. Whoever took are of these men had only them. Because of their size they can literally do nothing for themselves. They can't go to the bathroom for themselves. Things like basic care are impossible. They had to ship in special equipment for them. They had beds called Big Boy Beds, not a made up name, that's how we ordered them from medical supply. They were extra wide and they sat up further than the standard medical bed. The leg part also lowered at the knee so they could sit as if they were on a seat. This is how doctors would examine them. They never left the bed. There was an A frame above the bed so if they needed to be moved a lift could be hooked up to move them. But the hospital lifts only go up to 400 pounds so if they needed to be lifted we had to call the Fire Department and they would come out with a special lift. Bath required a huge amount of people to turn them and wash them. They didn't leave the bed for a bath either. It was all done in the bed. One of the men was living with his mom and she said she fed him all his meals. For breakfast alone he had two pounds of bacon, a dozen eggs, and a loaf of bread. His family was ordered to stop feeding him. They decided they were going to put a feeding tube into his stomach so they could control his weight. He never made it out of surgery.
People do not get this overweight by themselves.

Anyone who makes a meal that large for someone like that should be charged with a crime. Something like elder abuse, but obviously not that exact crime. It's abuse.
