I agree with Abby on this one. To leave out one sister for such superficial reasons seems deliberately hurtful. The letter doesn't say she kicks puppies or cuts in line ahead of old ladies at the grocery store. It says she doesn't have much money, is divorced, and doesn't go to church as much as they do.

I remember this one. Mainly because I couldn't believe what a self important snob the LW was. What kind of person excludes their sister from a family outing especially when she has made it clear her feelings are hurt to the point of tears? Cold hearted biotch.
To call the police?? I think the husband has a few problems, too. Good heavens; how threatening could this woman have been?? Scaring the snowflakes? Send them to another room or step outside with the crying sister....
Yeah, the police thing really stuck out for me. How dangerous could this woman be.
