Two days ago, using a $10 Staples coupon, I picked up a $15 gel-filled Staples brand wrist rest for $5.00.

Now I see that the cover is coming unglued.

Should I bother to take it back?

seriously?

how much will it cost to go to staples and what are the odds that you cannot go into the store and out without buying something else?

I'm pretty good at NOT buying something else at Staples (a hardware store is a different story), especially when they have one or two open cashiers, and 4 or 8 customers in each line.

Just get another one.

Or make your own.

Do you have a glue gun? Can you just email the company a photo and have them send you a replacement?

It depends. If the effort to take it back is worth $5 to you or $15, then take it back. For me to return to the mall is 20 miles on way. So, for me, that is like 2 tanks of gas so not sure I would make a special trip. But, when I would hold on to it and then return it when I was over there. I hate dealing with receipts and crap. It's annoying. But it is equally annoying when you buy something new only to find out it's a piece of crap as well.

This looks like an excellent idea.

I drive by this Staples several times a week. I will probably take it back today.

I'm also thinking, if I don't take it back they won't know they're selling defective stuff.

Did ya'll know that the receipt at a lot of places will fad super quick now?

For things you need to keep receipts for, you should digitally save it.

Well, since I put everything on my CC, then why shouldn't that be an electronic record? It would be very easy for stores to do, but obviously if they keep that extra layer of fading receipts that people tend to lose than that saves them money. I would love to see a CC come out with electronic receipts that would be good in lieu of the actual store receipt.

I traded it in for a slightly larger one.

Apparently, the guarantee on these (Staples brand) is "Satisfaction guaranteed", no time limit.

So I can take THIS one back in a few years and get my money back.

Is that for the "smoking your relatives" thread?

My real worry is, my employer's been bought out, and I will find out by November 6th whether I will be laid off.

The wrist rest is just a little distraction.
