I abused contacts in my 20s & now can't wear one in my left eye.  I've worn my glasses for 20 years or so now.

My eyesight was really bad. I think I was almost legally blind in one eye. I didn't get glasses until 6th grade, and got (hard) contacts in high school. As I got older, my eyes got drier & I had to switch to glasses (yes, bifocals). It was still hard to focus.

After Lasik, I stopped having so many headaches.

Now, mind you, I'm not NEAR as bad as I was...so it DID help a lot. It just wasn't the miracle I that everyone else has experienced...

That sounds heavenly...good for you!

I have an eye apt on Thursday.  My Lasik has reverted.  So I'm going to be back in contacts...cry

I don't think I've ever heard of that happening...

Lasik fixes your current eyesight, but that doesn't mean your eyes don't continue to degrade.  I am thinking of having it redone.

Yes, the contract that I signed says that, as long as I have my annual eye exams, any "touch-ups" are done for free.

You too, NJN. Blah days happen to all of US. :(

DH and I bought a new car this morning. Not brand new but new to me :)

That's great!

The "trouble-free" life expectancy of any Toyota is about 10 years and 140,000 miles.

After that, you can expect to have occasional problems in the $500 range once in a while.

(based on my experience with 4 of them, list available upon request)

Please do not tell that to DH's Toyota Camry.  It had never given us major problems, just the usual.  It's at almost 250,000 miles.

Eastern Canada's votes are in . . . 32 seats for the Liberals, 2 for the Conservatives (the bad guys) and 1 for the NDP. 2 Provinces down, 8 more + 2 territories to go. So far looking like a landslide majority, but the middle of the country is heavily Conservative.

Ok feeling better. I hope I feel as good as this tomorrow. I have a ton of work to do. I worked for 3 hours tonight to at least get the small tasks out of the way. I figure the rest of the week will be 12 hour days. Really, it's just due to some quarterly cycle work that needs to be done. None of it hard, just time consuming.

Jury duty was long and tedious. OF COURSE I got excused from the cases. Geesh. But I still had to sit there all day.

Yep.  And I don't even get to keep it.  Since work pays me for the day - they get my jury pay.

That's crazy.

The $25.

Shouldn't it have increased a little over the years?

If you're there 8 hours, that's $3.12 an hour.

Shouldn't it at least be minimum wage?

 That is an excellent point.

Although, I get jury duty as a civic duty.  The thing that ticked me off is they would not allow anyone to bring in any food or drinks - they have coffee and vending machines.  But the vending machine selections SUCKED - nothing but horrendous junk.  I mean, not even a granola bar pretending to be healthy.  Candy bars, cookies and chips.  I think that is ridiculous - if you can buy food and eat it in the jury room, you should be able to bring snacks in.

4 provinces reported in. Liberals still leading by a landslide. Conservatives have lost 50% of the seats that they have held, Liberals are showing an 81% increase in their seats.

I have no idea why that is the rule.  It only applies to jurors.  When I go in any other time - I can have it.

They have granola bars and they have protein bars.  The protein bars are real nuts - not granola.  Usually very low in sugar, although DH's favorite is Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew, and that's a tad sugary.  I've been eating the Dark Chocolate cinnamon pecan - only 5g of sugar.

They are wonderful, with none of that yucky protein bar aftertaste that so many of them have.

I just remember when we first found out DS was gluten intolerant we started reading labels and we learned right away granola bars aren't as nutritious as they claim.

No. Granola bars are not the best thing. But they are better than nothing.

And they travel well. The kids take them in their backpacks to school. Caitlyn keeps a couple in her car.

I found a recipe for homemade granola bars once.

Wanted to try to make them but never did.
