Like three people looked at it.  And ed said it was okay to run someone over.  Shooting a dog that isn't doing anything at all is NOT okay.  Not even in ed's world.  And running over someone purposely with a car is NOT okay.  Not even in ed's world.  There are consequences for doing that.  But if he wants to try let him.  And yes, he constantly sees sexual predators everywhere.

 Yes to your last statement.

Maybe the thread took place when I was on "vacation?"

I posted thread about two days ago. Tang, Riding, and FWM were the only ones that commented on it. It's on page two now. Some sick SOB with a dozen different previous counts of everything from domestic violence to terrorist threats purposely ran a motorcyclist off the road because he was trying to pass him illegally. Which, btw, happens all the time here on the country roads like they were on. ed said it was okay to try to kill him. It is NEVER okay to try to kill someone for something so stupid. The guy on the cycle is okay but the girl is still in ICU waiting to see if her arm is going to have to be amputated. All because some azzhole decided he could run them off the road.

I'll check it out when I get a chance. Thanks.

I quoted you verbatim so it's not slander. Get over yourself. I know you live in some alternate reality where it's perfectly okay to just kill people or pets for no reason. It's not. I don't really give a damn if you hate dogs. You don't just get to go around killing other people's pets because you don't like them. This family did NOT call this officer. They didn't ask him to come to their house. That dog was doing NOTHING to him. NOTHING. Just like the motorcyclist wasn't hurting the car driver. Unless your life is in imminent danger you do not have the right to take the life of another person/thing.

This is off the motorcycle thread. A car driver deliberately slammed into a motorcyclist because he was illegally passing him.

So he decided not to let that unlicensed SOB pass him in a no-passing zone.

I was saying what I think he was thinking. That doesn't mean I approve or would recommend this action

But, you didn't say that, ed.

Had you added," I'll bet that's what the old jerk driver was thinking"....there wouldn't be a problem.

The way you posted your remark, lead people to believe that you felt the driver was justified in running the motorcycle off the road, and the people who got hurt, deserved what they got.

You need to be more clear in a case like this, ed. (JMHO)

I can understand why NJN got upset.

Thank you FWM. It read that it was perfectly okay for the driver to go after the motorcyclist.

I have an 86 pound dog. He's 14. He's half blind, half deaf, and will "run" (if that's what you call it) to see people when they come over. He's too old to bite anyone. Yes, I know this. He can't even jump anymore. If some azzhole cop shot him because he ran out the door I'd be as pissed as hell. There would be someone paying.

I have to agree with NJN but I worry about the things that ed says. I was kind of freaked out when his niece that was bitten by the dog was 8 years old. It seems to be a theme when he's talking about young girls. Whether it's their abortions, first sexual encounters or dog bites I wouldn't want to be an 8 year old in ed's world.

Look, I'm just saying. I have dogs. I know the younger two will bark and growl. We don't even let them near the door. Now the older one? Like I said, he's too blind to bite you. If someone shot him I'd be more than angry. And if my kids had to see my dog laying dead? Yep. Anger wouldn't even cover it.

OK - that's enough. You have issue with ed's post on the motorcycle thread - take it up over there. I have no idea what it has to do with this thread.

And stop calling him insane.

 That depends.  Perception is everything.

If this dog had not been on the owner's property, or under someone's direct control--I would side with the cops here.

The cop felt threatened.  He may have been unreasonable to feel that way, but again, perception is everything.

My issue is that the dog had a right to be where it was--the cop did not.  That is the issue here.

Cops seem to "feel threatened" by anything and everything. Yeah, in reality, you never know. But, I would expect they would have some training to be able to discern life threatening situations from run of the mill stuff. But apparently not. We don't seem to care if our cops are trained. Funny but if doctors and nurses were killing mentally ill patients in their charge, then we would be outraged. For some reason, medical professionals can understand some of these situations. Like being in a Hazmat suit and having NO RISK of harm if some naked, deranged mentally ill woman throws pee at you. But, whatever. A lot of you seem to want to live in a Police State. Well, here you go. But, be careful what you wish for.

Even if he did feel threatened, it's a 40 pound dog and you are on it's turf, give it a swift kick away from you or hit it with the baton. I don't see why the gun was the first option.

Let's review. The people didn't even call the policeman. He saw their car door opened and thought he'd tell them it was open. Nice? Yes. But they weren't EXPECTING the police to show up. Next, dog runs out and policeman immediately shoots him. Dog isn't barking or growling or showing any signs of aggression. Dog is on his own property. I cannot side with the policeman or with anyone who thinks that just because dogs have the capacity to bite we should automatically kill them.
