SS' so mom called last night and said her DH won't watch SS and she's got to work late. So we are in charge of him too today

SS is with his dad, and that is a good thing.

Yes, it is.  She called ME (I guess I should be grateful we have a working relationship.) and asked me if we'd mind keeping him.  It's homecoming weekend at Baylor and she caters for all the football events.  She's working 5 am to 10 pm today.  Her douche bag of a DH said he doesn't baby sit kids that aren't his.  That's fine.  We'll get him.

We're home from court though.  Want to hear something hilarious?  They asked for a copy of DH's airplane ticket because when he told them he couldn't make it to court last time because he was going to be out of the country?  Well, apparently that is a very common excuse for delinquent fathers.  They even asked the ex if he really was out of the country.  She laughed and said yes that he wasn't lying.  He was being honest.  The lady at court said the delinquent fathers use all kinds of excuses.

What. Did you party late last night or something?  wink

No, Thursday is always my slump day.  It was chilly in the house which makes for great sleeping but hard to crawl out of the warmth I guess.

DH turned the heat on here!!

Of course he knows all about my freezing as..  biggrin

I have been switching back & forth between heat & A/C all week.  The temps go from 40s to high 70s every day.  It's nuts.

And that is when you're more likely to get sick, imo.

Morning all! Work day today so I have a minute to post. Been so busy between work, school and internship.

Had my first support group last night at internship. It went really well. I was told to expect 2-3 people. We had 7 show up. My Supervisor was impressed it went so well. We are going to send out a mailer for next months group. I hope it does not get too big.

I drove to work, yesterday morning, with the heat on, and back with the A/C.  no

And that is why everyone here is sick.

Wow, the ex stuck up for your DH? Good for her!

Yeah she did.  We all three get along pretty well now.  None of the three of us like her new husband but since she's not leaving him no one really deals with him.  She knows DH has always done right by SS.  He has always paid child support and paid it on time.  Sometimes a month or even two ahead of time.  For one child he was paying a little under 2k/month.  He filed for a reduction when he was out of work last year.  Back in November.  It was about three months later that they met at the child support office and signed a "Temporary Order".  Basically they went to the child support office and said that until they saw a judge they both agree for him to pay less child support.  The office worker looked it up and it was about a quarter of what he was paying.  They both signed saying they agreed to it and then the person at the child support office notarized it.  Until a judge signed it either one of them could decide they didn't like the terms and go back on them.  Today the judge made the reduction "Temporarily Permanent".  IOW's it's permanent until they rehear the case in June.  They usually won't rehear a case unless a parent requests a hearing.  So you can basically go all your life without going back to the judge if no one complains.  But since they lowered his support they will monitor it to make sure his income doesn't spike up and he's not paying.  So for right now it's officially reduced.  But there will, unfortunately, be more court dates in the future.

At least it is reduced, NJN. That is a good thing.

I also hope your DH gets a better paying job. Just because you all will be better off.

Work has bee sketchy. He thinks after the first of the year things will pick up. It's been hard. He's not used to not working and gets stressed and grouchy. Then that stresses everyone else. He could NOT be a SAHD.

Someone turned on the a/c outside. Last I checked, it was 57 outside. Typical AZ. 2 weeks'ish of fall then straight to winter. I was hoping I'd get to wear my long sleeve shirts this winter since last winter was too warm for them and looks like I'll get my wish.

So much better.  I want to eat all the time now.  I have to be careful so I won't gain back the weight I tried to lose. LOL!  I'm still keeping my upper gi appt.  This thing last two months so I think I better still go.    Thank you for asking.

Toddler logic ...
DS: *gets food* *eats a few bites* *wants out of high chair*
~ 2 mins later ~
DS: Hungry!
Me: Well, then, sit and finish your food.
DS: HUNGRY!
Me: So sit and finish your food.

Dude. Kid. Your food is right there. If you're hungry, EAT IT! Don't take a few bites then run around and play.

Open grazers! HA! Love it! That perfectly describes DS.

The frustrating part for me is that he'll throw a tantrum rather than eating. He has his drawer in the kitchen that is full of snacks for him. He has his lunch sitting on his tray table. But, he'd rather whine about and have a fit than eat.

Of course, now that I have MY lunch, MY food is the must have thing ... wink

Sure. Until I sit down with my lunch. Then he'll want mine. There's been a lot of meals where he and I will trade plates back and forth because my food is always better.

I can't wait till he has a toddler of his own usurping his food biggrin

We always had the same thing. What ever I made for me, they ate. With very few exceptions.

They didn't want to eat, fine.

I stopped snacking 2 hours before meal time.

Most of the time they ate and I had what was left.

I don't think I had a hot meal for about 5 years.

If they wanted mine, fine.

I just know I wasn't going to turn meal time into fight club.

I did the same thing. They ate what I ate and at the same time as I ate. If they wouldn't eat what I cooked, they didn't eat.

Not eating what I cooked was not a problem when they were little. That issue didn't kick in until they were almost teenagers. By then they were capable of cooking for themselves.

But a toddler, no, it was never an issue.

DD and DS are raising their kids the same way. They all eat very good meals, even the almost one year old.

WOW, and she agreed to that?  Oh she is working now so that probably plays into it.  but wow!  That is like getting a huge raise!  Congrats!

I love the fact that the quilt has a time-out corner!

Does the quilt have it's own nice rack in that corner to sit on?

Yeah, she's working now.  She's actually been pretty nice lately for the most part.  She knows we take good care of him.  In fact, better care of him than her DH.  I think she's pretty agreeable because she has a lot to lose.  If she fights us in court we could pull in all the abuse records.  But yeah, she's been agreeable.  Thanks.  I appreciate it.  People don't understand that getting your child support changed where I live takes nine to twelve months.  I'm sure you are one of the few that remembers!

The grand's are here now. They are staying over night. No school tomorrow!

I think I will find a Halloween story to read to them. ;)

Exhausted.

DD went to school today, but no practice. I went to work and busted out a bunch of things that sat yesterday while I was gone. Got home after a 13 hour workday and took DD's BF to get a haircut. He asked nicely so I agreed. Came home and made plain baked chicken and plain rice for DD for dinner. First real food she had eaten in 2 days. It stayed down and she was thrilled to have something in her system.

After dinner I wrote 2 evaluations and now it's time for bed. Getting up to do it all over again tomorrow.
