It may be Friday, but I have to work over the weekend.  I won't have a real Friday until next week.

Morning!

It's a basketball weekend for me! The best kind of weekend! Woot! Today, DD has the first game of her tournament. Then DH and I have to jump in the car and head over to another town where our 6th grade girls are playing, they have 2 games tonight. Then tomorrow morning, DH and I both have 2 games at the YMCA for our boys/girls youth league. Then, later on Sat, DD has more tournament games and then practice Sunday afternoon for the Y team. Living the dream. biggrin

I am looking out the door to our deck & there is a tree in our neighbor's yard with gorgeous orange & yellow leaves. The sun is hitting it just right, so I decide to take a picture.

Somehow the camera is turned to me, so I accidentally take a selfie.

I may have scared myself...

Not yet, flan.

That will hit us in a couple of days, I think.

We'll have to wait and see.

The storms we have now are coming from the west.

That hurricane is probably going to hit Mexico, sometime tonight. (It looks like a huge one!)

Whether or not it will come this far north, well, it's too soon to tell.

All we can do is wait and see.

I hope those folks in Mexico are getting the heck away from the coast.

Hurricane "Pat" looks like a beast.cry

We do need it, Trudy.

Sadly, 10 inches in 48 hours is more that this clay soil can handle.

Lots of run off, which causes the street flooding.

Oh well. There's nothing we can do about it.wink

Yep.  This is how TX gets rain.  Massive flooding all at once and then we get nothing for months.  It's horrible.  It's pouring here and sinsuses are about to explode.

That's the way it goes, in Texas, Trudy.

It's feast or famine, when it comes to rain.

Months go by without a drop.

And then, the skies open, and we get more than we can handle.

On the bright side, it should help to fill the lakes back up.wink

Yup! That's the way is goes!wink

Oh, not to mention. We go so long without any rain, people around here forget how to drive in it.no

They are playing crashy cars, all over DFW this morning!

(Gosh folks, it's not that hard. Leave more space between you and a car in front of you. Back off the speed a tad bit. It takes longer to stop in the rain. Use a little common sense, and you might live longer!wink

OMG YES! The last time it rained like this a soybean truck turned over on the highway. I was going to pick up the highchair I bought and got stuck in the traffic. Hazmat was out and the whole highway was shut down!

Hoosier drivers are the same way. I dread the first snow, especially on the interstates.

I grew up driving in Chicago and I drive pretty well. But I know when it's dangerous and when it's not.

My morning so far:

Neighbors two houses away decide to have an argument in their driveway. (They do this often.) The argument involved 4 people, and lots of screaming and cussing. At one point, a woman was standing on the hood of a van (parked in the driveway) and banging on one of the windows...

flan, this place turns into "Crash City" when we get snow or sleet.

Native Texans are dangerous in the stuff!wink

Having spent my first 36 years driving in Ohio, I know how to handle it.

The folks who have only driven in it a few times in their lives, are clueless.cry

Better to just stay home, and out of danger, on snow/sleet/ice storm days.

Morning everyone. People here are fine to drive in the rain. Snow is another matter altogether. I have 4X4 & still am not that comfortable driving in it. My dad thought the best way to teach me to drive in snow is to throw me in the deep end. PA turnpike, snow coming down like a blizzard, Christmas traffic, my whole family in the car & no place to pull over until you get to a rest area. I was in full on panic mode by the time I could pull off. I still get a little panicky in snow.

First world problem. I have this freakishly long fingernail. It's all natural. I have done nothing to make it grow. It's nearly an inch long. It looks weird it's so long. I'm torn between cutting it off because it's so long and this weird desire to see just how long it will grow. My third option is to write Dear Prudie to see how to handle it.

I would probably cut it, before it breaks off. (That usually hurts more, in my experience.)

But, take a picture first!

The kids are up! Feed! And the house is in shambles.

Love it!

Now, to fix all the changes DGS made to my computer..

Darn kid.

The rain has stopped here. It rained heavily at times last night. But the sun is out now.

If I don't make it back, have a great day all.

Stay afloat, FWM. ;)

There was a sad article in the news last night about a woman here who punched her one month old in the head till he bled through his ears. I think some sort of post partum depression or something might have been playing into it because the neighbors said there were warning signs and the police said that as horrible as the crime was we all needed to keep open minds about all the evidence. I just can't imagine ever doing something so horrible. It's so sad.

NJN, I laughed out loud when I saw your Dear Prudie comment. I double dog dare you to write her!

There was an accident on the main road which caused the school bus to be very late. I ended up driving them myself so I could make my meeting.

It's in the 60's here and the trees are beautiful.

It's sending moisture our way, Lily.

But it's not totally to blame.

We have a couple of hours break in the rain.

I hope it lasts long enough for me to snag Paul for the weekend.
