My niece will probably be born today!! Sister checked in at 5 this morning. I'm waiting on DH to get home so I can get on the road.

But both my kids woke up sick, so I am nervous and sad to leave them.

Sorry both of your girls are sick.

Congrats on the new niece! Hope all goes well for your sister and her baby.

Do you have to travel far?

Be safe!

I think we will probably go to Chili's.  Ever since our favorite place closed we just wander around from place to place.  Last week was TGIF.  There is nothing much but chains here but you are welcome to join us!

I'm at work now, hoping to get my oven fixed today. The bake element went out. The repair guy said he could probably get to my house "later this morning." He's going to call when he's heading my way and I'll run home. Haven't decided whether or not I'll come back to work. I'm thinking "not." Our main work computers are down for an upgrade and routine maintenance, so there's not much I can do here anyway.

Let Thirsty Thursday begin!

I guess all things are relative.  I think the 45 minute drive to my brother's is far.  3 1/2 hours is really far!

That is a long way from your two sick girls.

If it was me, I'd be staying home and picking a day when my healthy girls can see the new baby too. But, that is just me.

Though, I must say, the local fresh homemade soup is divine. biggrin

I have replaced the bake element twice in my oven, myself. It really is easy and saved me a ton of money.

Hope yours gets fixed today.

Fresh vegetable barley beef soup today.

I love to make soup, so easy and so good when it is cold out.

The secret to really good soup, IMHO, is the base. I have started using a vegetable base and a beef base together. DH says the soup rocks now. smile

If the weather is wet Saturday, we will probably have less than a dozen trick-or-treaters.

If it's nice outside, I expect the parents of the under seven kids will take them around in the early afternoon, maybe 20 to 40.

Then the teenagers in the evening, between 6 and 15 of them.

Spouse likes to give each kid, 15 cents in coins, usually a nickel and 10 pennies because it sounds like a lot going into their bags or pumpkins.

I think 25 cents is appropriate.

She firmly believes that once the kids find out we're giving out money, a lot of them will come back over and over. I don't think so, and I'm the one answering the door.

That is really strange Ed.  They will most likely just toss the change.  Nobody likes pennies.  And I'm willing to bet if they come back it will be to TP your house.
