I hope this works.  This is the HIGHWAY!!  I-35 major highway right near my house.  It is six lanes.  The whole six lane highway had to be shut down.

That's scary! Has it been that bad in the past?

Nothing worse than a flood, except maybe trying to clean up in its aftermath. Hope you stay safe.

On another note, I love the red brick building in the first picture....

Yes.  It's been this bad in the past.  Our house is okay.  We've never flooded but our front yard is at the bottom of a hill.  So our front yard always floods. As does the driveway.  You have to carefully wade through puddles to get in the car.  We're not going anywhere today but yesterday as we were picking SS up we saw water rapidly approaching people's homes.  Rivers, lakes, and ponds are all over flowing.  The end of our street often floods because across our street there's a farm with a huge pond.

The red building is part of our historical town.

And yes, people are driving into raging roads full of water and being swept away.

Does TX have a Stupid Motorist Law?

AZ does. You have to pay for your own rescue.

No we don't. Just yesterday some guy's car got swept away. He climbed a tree to safety. What was the first thing he did when he was in the tree? Call the news station! Crazy. He was stuck in the tree for like five hours.

 That is crazy, NJN!

I guess a few minutes of fame, was more important than calling 911 for help!

I can hear them now ...

"But I ALWAYS go this way !!! "

I once drove through flood water about 100 yards, on Rt 33 between Columbus Ohio and Athens, when the Hocking River was flooding.

I was in a long line of cars, driving on the crest of the road, and I could see that the water was not quite up to the hubcaps on the cars ahead of me (about 6 inches),

and the water wasn't moving very fast, if at all.

Turning around was not an option, and if I'd just stopped the drivers behind me would have been stuck ... or more likely would have driven around me.

He also took plenty of video to send both his wife and the news station.  The news station are the ones that called 911 for him.

Oh, no doubt!  Who in the heck calls the weather station!  I do think a lot of phones have water proof cases.  He was going on and on in his report to the news about how he had been in Boy Scouts for over twenty years as a kid and a leader so he's climbed plenty of trees.  I thought, they didn't teach you common sense!

My phone is water and dust resistant. I have the sport version of my phone and it's holding up remarkably well to being abused by a toddler.

He might have figured he'd get rescued faster if he was in the news.
