We were at church last night and I kept watching the doors. DH admitted today that he did, too. We decided to forego any Kennedy Center dates this year as well.
Paris is a very Christian city, with all it's Catholic cathedrals and churches. ISIS is after Christians. I wouldn't be surprised if Vatican City was next.
You can't judge a city by the number of cathedrals and churches. From what I understand, only 27% of the French believe in a supreme being.
Montreal is just awash in cathedrals,. and every street and village is named after a saint, but that doesn't mean it's a Christian city. It used to be, but not any more. It hasn't been a Christian city in over half a century.
All the cathedrals are holdovers of when Montreal was ruled by the Catholic church. They're old and beautiful and we're not going to tear them down.
Yep.
That's what happens when you put God out.
The Devil moves in.
Well, which is it? A very Christian city or a Devil city? It can't be both.
You can have a church on every block, but they are just brick and mortar. No more special than the dry cleaners, Walmart or the mall.
It's the people who have turned from God.
It's all through the Bible.
People turn from God, their lives, city or whatever is attacked or destroyed. They confess and ask forgiveness and come back to God and they are restored.
If you, general you, are not serving God. Then who are you serving?

I bet a lot of people are rethinking attending events at large venues now.
And that is how they win.

DH carries 24/7. I never think twice about it. He served in the military and knows what he's doing. He has all the paperwork to carry. He has taught everyone in the house gun safety. He has also taken everyone in our home out and we can all shoot and respect what a gun does. I am quite proficient with his handgun. To the point he was almost afraid because I was such a good shot. He carries one gun and the rest are locked in the safe. He and I hold the only keys. The kids are all old enough to know not to touch the guns. At night when he undresses the gun goes on the bedside table. It doesn't bother me one bit. This has never been an issue in our house.

I won't live like that.
flan
I try not to, and I did a pretty good job of moving on after 9-11, but it's harder for me now with little kids. I worry I'm not going to be around to raise them, and that they themselves will fall victim to such an attack. Heck, even sometimes when I'm driving I get a little nervous because I see how quickly life can end.
There are 2 forces in the world. God and Satan. You were created to serve. It's one or the other. There is no neutral only in your delusion.
By the same token, I could easily talk about YOUR delusion, but that would be rude.
See? That is your opinion.

So even sadder now that the victims are being ID'd. a couple of employees of UTC and their spouses were killed. These people live in my area. One couple leaves behind an 18 month old.

Why do I have to "serve" anyone?
You are--whether you realize it, or not.

Nope. Not serving either.
You really don't get it.

There is nothing about it on the 3 major news channels that I have seen. It's all still about Paris.
I wonder if that's on purpose.

Yes, it's on purpose. They don't want you to know.
No. To downplay the whole thing.
Try to take the nasty out of your tone and use your head for more than a hat rack.

There was nothing nasty about it. You're beyond paranoid. It's on every news channel, including CNN.
Well, what can I expect from a poster who felt flan and I were in some Grand Conspiracy?
You really don't comprehend things very well.
And yes. I know you and (lower case) flan have a vendetta.
Poor put upon (lower case) flan and a the use to be Christian.

"Muslims who call the Islamic State (ISIS) un-Islamic are typically, as the Princeton scholar Bernard Haykel, the leading expert on the group’s theology, told me, “embarrassed and politically correct, with a cotton-candy view of their own religion” that neglects “what their religion has historically and legally required.”
The theft Trudy was talking about has been described as not related to terror?????? WTF, a military building was burgled and it was weapons that were stolen.

There hasn't been a peep on the news here about this!
