That's perfectly acceptable.

I doubt there is a single soul here who doesn't know how I feel about islam/Muslims.
But I don't think making fun of them is right either.
What if they began mocking the sign of cross? Or the yomica? Or any other religion?
Not to mention it just looks incredibly stupid.
But then there are people who like those Jackass movies.
So stupid seems to be the popular thing now.

The what, now?
Are you talking about a yarmulke?
Is that how it is spelled? Sorry.
The head covering worn by jewish men.

That's like me mocking your faith and justifying it by claiming it's the truth. Nice try, but no cigar.
If someone says something negative about evangelical Christianity, folks get bent out of shape.
If you say something nasty and derogatory about another Christian faith, it's the truth?
Wow. Talk about hypocrisy.
So let me get this straight.
I said I think the OP is mocking islam/Muslims and that is not right.
But now you are getting piss because someone doesn't like having a JW knock on their door?
Did you actually break your neck in the attempt to twist this all up and find offense?

And some of you did. Warped. Misguided. Stupid. Those were the exact words.

Ummm..... that's not mocking.
That is an opinion.
Wow.

Wow.
So, if I call your religion warped, misguided and stupid, it would just be an opinion, and not mocking? Good to know. I'll remember that.
Yes.
And you do. Every single chance you get.
It would be mocking if you begin make fun of our rituals.
Take communion. It is very sacred to us.
You can see it is stupid all you want.
But if you begin to misquote scripture or in some other way make fun of it. That's wrong.
See? It's that tolerance thing a lot have trouble with.
I can tolerate the ways of other religions. Shoot, I can event respect them.
But no way does that get returned to some one who believes in God.

Show me one post where I made fun of communion or called it stupid.
Just one. I'll wait.
You call Christianity a fairy tale.
You call God a mythological creature.
You make fun of the fact that Christians believe the Bible.
As for the communion reference, I gave it as an example of a Christian ritual.
I said IF you made fun of it.
You really do like to be offended, don't you?

The Westboro people call themselves Christian. Real Christians know the difference. Just because you say you are Christian doesn't mean you are. The body of Christ knows what teachings are truly Christian. I would think you would know this , being, as you claim, a former Christian. ..

Some people don't consider Catholics to be real Christians. And yes, I am a former Christian. My religion is called pravoslavye, which literally means the RIGHT religion, and you know what?
If I was still in it, i wouldn't call YOU a real Christian.
I didn't interpret this woman as mocking anyone, just making herself look loony tunes.
I agree she looks loony tunes. I do think she is trying to mock religion (religion in general, not any one specifically). My take on their beliefs is they believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster to demonstrate how silly they feel believing in God is. In one article I read, they referred to themselves as atheists.
I'm not offended by this girl. I feel sorry for her. Sorry that she does not allow herself to know God and feel his loving presence in her life.

It's not about me. To be a member of a religion, you have to believe the fundamental tenets of that religion.
I could call myself a Jew or a Muslim, but if I don't believe in the fundamental beliefs of Judaism or Islam, then am I Jew or a Muslim? Of course not. That's absurd.

It's really no different. It's the garb of her belief, just as crosses and crucifixes are part of the garb of Christians. We may think her colander is silly, but I'd bet Pastafarians believe crosses and crucifixes are silly.

So what? It's not a real religion. It's made up crap to simply mock real religions.
A mark of a real religion is longevity. Judaism has been around for thousands of years. Buddhism, Confuscianism--same way. Islam about 1400 or so years. Christianity about 2,000.
The whole thing about someone making up crap yesterday and saying it's a religion is foolish. In 500 years if they are still around, we an revisit the issue.

That's not a real religion. They are not sincere in their beliefs. It's an anti-religion made up to mock religion.
To say otherwise you'd have to be completely ignorant.

They are just as much Christian as all the other denominations are. All Christian Denominations get their Word from the Bible. The Bible is the book of Christians. The issue is that not all denominations get the same message from the Bible.
Saying that Jehovah's Witness are not Christian is like saying Lutherans aren't Christian, or Catholics aren't Christian, or even people of no particular denomination, but believe in God, The Father, His son Jesus, and Heaven and life everlasting aren't Christian. They may not be your denomination of Christian, but they are still Christian.

"It's not a real religion"? They say the same thing about Christianity. 10 years after Christianity began as a recognized religion, was it a "real religion"? All things have their start somewhere, some-when. Just because it's recent doesn't make it "not real" to those that believe in it.
You and I may not believe it to be real, but that doesn't make it not real to those that believe it. Just as they don't believe the things we believe in are real.

They believe in the silliness of religion just as fervently and sincerely as Christians believe in the Trinity or Muslims believe in Allah or Jews believe in Yahweh. And, as ed11563 mentioned earlier, all that's needed to be real is to be legally registered, which they are.

I'm sorry, but I must disagree with you about it being different. As believers, the images, symbols, and icons are deeply held to us, and us alone. To everyone that doesn't believe as we do they are just meaningless bits of decoration. That goes for every faith and every belief.
Satanism is a fairly longstanding religion, and they have the goat's head pentagram as a symbol. How do you feel about that symbol? Does it hold a special place in your heart or do you find it silly?
Personally, I think this lady is, I believe the proper term is, "Loony Tunes", but that doesn't detract from her right to have her beliefs. If we want our religious rights protected in a society that has freedom of religion, we must also protect the rights of those who's religions we see as nothing but silly, just as strongly as we would protect religions we respect, even if we don't believe them to be right..

They do not believe in the fundamental tenets of Christianity. They are not Christian. I will argue about this all day long and into next year. The Bible is not their only source for their beliefs--AND--they do not believe in the divinity of Christ or that he is the Savior. That is fundamental to Christian beliefs.
I believe you have gotten some bad information there huskerbb.
They do not believe in the Trinity, but they do believe Jesus to be the Son of God. You should check out their own webpage if you want to know about them, not some other link. Here's what they think about Jesus: www.jw.org/en/publications/books/bible-teach/who-is-jesus-christ/
Especially important on that link to disprove what you just said is:
Jesus is Jehovah’s most precious Son—and for good reason. He is called “the firstborn of all creation,” for he was God’s first creation. * (Colossians 1:15) There is something else that makes this Son special. He is the “only-begotten Son.” (John 3:16) This means that Jesus is the only one directly created by God. Jesus is also the only one whom God used when He created all other things. (Colossians 1:16) Then, too, Jesus is called “the Word.” (John 1:14) This tells us that he spoke for God, no doubt delivering messages and instructions to the Father’s other sons, both spirit and human.
