Mark 9:29And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.”
So, prayer is going to drive out ISIS?
Good luck with that.
You've never truly witnessed the power of God. Prayer is a weapon. Not something pretty to be pulled out on special occasions.
I know, I know. You don't believe.
And that is how you kill the power of prayer.
Prayer and Faith.
Asking all things of the Father, through His Son, with Faith.
You go on making fun and belittling those of us with Faith.
It won't change my Faith. It won't make my prayer less effective.
The bitterness in your mouth is going to be incredible.
Here's the thing.
If you were born in a different country, you'd be praying to a different God. Not the Father or his Son. You'd be praying to Allah or Ganesha, or Krishna or Brahma or Kali.
You'd have a little altar in your house, where you'd have little statues of multi-limbed gods and you'd feed them milk and sweets, when you're not bathing them in the Holy Ganges. Yes, you would.
I choose not to believe in ANY gods.
But those gods don't count, because ONLY Pentecostal Christians have THE answer.
flan
I'm pretty sure I would be praying to the real God. I know a LOT of people from other countries that have been converted. They have set up churches all over the world, in their countries. I KNOW for a fact that my God is the one TRUE God. I have no doubts whatsoever.
Oh, of course. If you were raised by Hindu parents in a small village in India, you'd still believe in a Christian god.
If you were raised by Muslim parents in a small village in Afghanistan, you'd still believe in a Christian god.
Keep telling yourself that. It's adorable.
That's why I'm thankful I wasn't raised in those environments and that my parents were/are Christians. It's also why it boggles my mind that people who are born into situations of a good Christian family are stupid enough to spit on that.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

?????
You must be confused. Lutherans have THE answer. Well, answers. All of them.

Jesus was born of a virgin, died on a cross, rose from the dead 3 days later, ascended into Heaven 40 days after that. Pentecost was 10 days later.
I know that if we do not confess our sins and ask forgiveness and profess Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and follow the commandments and instructions in the Bible, we are going to Hell.
I know that Lucifer knows his time is about up. He knows he is about to be locked in Hell and he is using every opportunity he can to take as many people with him as he can.
I know Jesus is going to split the sky open and call his people home.
I know that God is going to separate the sheep from the goats.
I know that those who have their name in the Lambs Book of Life will enter into eternal glory.
And those who do not will be cast into Hell.
I know these things to be fact.
Just like I know ice is cold and fire is hot.
There is no middle of the road.
You either serve God or you serve Satan.
You can "if, and, but" all you want. The fact is, Jesus IS coming back. Heaven and Hell ARE real. And now is the time to choose which one you are going to.

If you say so. Ignore the fact that there was a veritable plethora of other gods who did the same thing. And they did it way before him.
No. There wasn't.

If you say so. The believers in those gods were just as convinced that those gods existed.
No, it's not if I say so. It's not about believers being convinced. Jesus existed in the historical record of the Romans. There is really no doubt about that.

I know nothing we say will convince you. Your heart has hardened towards God.
I'd dare say you could be standing in front of Jesus with your hand in His side and still wouldn't believe.
Matthew 10:14
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

You have been told. You have turned away and won't accept the Word of God.
So. There is no point in my continued attempts to tell you about God or try to explain Him or His word.
So. I'm done.

You know how prayer helps those people in France? It's the knowledge that their are people thinking of them, people hoping the best for them, people who don't even know them. When you are in a bad, frightening place, it gives you strength to go on knowing others are supporting you, even if you aren't religious.

"...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16
Availeth MUCH. A lot is accomplished by prayer. God's ways our higher than our ways. We don't know all that prayer can or will accomplish. Man has free will. God can move others in ways we don't know. Daniel prayed and was sent angels to comfort him.

Putting a ribbon on your car is a nice sentiment or a hashtag or whatever. But, that's all that is, a sentiment. Prayers can move mountains.
Prayer can heal hearts, give peace, give strength.
When we pray, it has been shown on x-rays and scans to increase certain activities in the brain. Lab work shows chemicals are released into our bodies. And we physically feel a difference in our self when actively praying.
And that's just how our physical bodies react.
When we pray, in Jesus' name, we are talking directly to God. He hears us. We are His children and He wants to do everything He can, which is everything, to answer those prayers.
He will restore health, peace, calm. He can change hearts, protect people, actually move mountains.
But a lot of the time, He can only get so far and then we stop Him.
With our doubts, our inability to just let Him take care of us.
We put limits on a limitless God.
What can pray do?
Everything.

On the news this morning they were interviewing a Pastor who happened to be on vacation close to Paris and as soon as they heard about the tragedy he and his family went to Paris. He said his family and himself were Praying on a street corner and when they ended their Prayer found a dozen people joined them. They were all young people so I would say not all of them do not want Prayer.

I know. Seriously, how damn arrogant do you have to be to assume you speak for everyone?
