We have not even started yet. DH is kind of down since his football team lost and seems to be on a loosing streak. He better cheer up soon.

Everything is right on track here. We have the drinks cooler loaded in the Jeep. I have the casseroles in the oven. All the rest of the stuff is laid out and ready. We're almost there.

We are starting to cook at 6:00. May finish out the night by going out to sing karaoke.

We are back home. Wonderful day. Traffic was great on the way home. I've driven way too much in the past few days.

Done! All the food turned out great. I did my mom 's simple stuffing and baked it. Buttered noodles were on point. The turkey was Delish! Mashed pototoes and a big old boat of gravy. I really have the hang of gravy finally! IT took me YEARS to learn how to make good gravy. My mom was a the Master of Delicious Gravy so she would have given me a gold star, lol. Dd's pumpkin pie was delicious! Yum! DH and i got all the dishes done and the kitchen is clean, like i never used it!
After a few years of doing this, i finally have it down to know what to do the night before and what time to start the day of, etc.

Yes - those are wonderful.  But NO ONE in my house besides me will eat a pecan.  Sigh.

My turkey was probably one of my best ever. Brined for two days, then seasoned with cognac, sage, and poultry seasoning. The meat just melted in my mouth. The boys couldn't get enough. The stuffing was from skinnytaste.com, as was the sweet potato casserole. Everything was delicious.

Nothing much to do today, so I ended up watching the entire Macy's T-Day parade on the telly (Watching the parade is not a tradition with me).  It wasn't that bad.

It rained the whole day here.  I did have to get out of the house to drop several bills in the mail at the P.O., but it was otherwise just a day off for me.  At least I can sleep late tomorrow as I took the day off.  No plans for tomorrow, but I will not be shopping.  wink

I cooked turkey , ham, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, greenbeans, jello salad, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie and homemade whipped cream. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving. Got to snuggle my little man. We watched national lampoon Christmas and I had some eggnog with rum.

Thank you, flan.

She took pain meds and a nap. They came back about 7:30 so the kids could eat. She didn't feel like cooking herself and we are glad to help out. They left again at 10. All was good and she did feel a bit better by the time they came back.

Second round of leftovers today!!

Pork loin was gone--and there was a LOT of it.
Meatballs were nearly gone and what was left got ate for supper as leftovers.

The turkey remained.

Went to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. FIL couldn't find a ham he approved of (don't even try to understand this) so he picked up some Italian sausage. Very tasty. He also had a turkey - which, per the usual, was fairly dry. Also had green beans, deviled eggs, my biscuits, my MIL's mom's stuffing, and regular stuffing. He said he made potato salad but it didn't get served. Probably because DH objected to not having mashed potatoes (which he didn't have either). MIL absolutely loved my cheesecake. FIL worked hard (and succeeded) to come up with a few insults for it. I could tell by the look on his face that he didn't think I was capable of producing something like that. I kept my smirk to myself.

Our friend, G, joined us at my in-laws (with their permission) and, surprisingly, FIL managed to be completely civil. Not one rude thing or insult from his mouth towards G. G brought a cheese and slim jim appetizer and a pumpkin pie.

FIL sent us home with plenty of leftovers. I think I'll turn the turkey into chili later.

We cooked a ten pound turkey and a twelve pound turkey. There's hardly anything left!

Ours was 21 pounds.

Jesse picked at it about all afternoon and into the night.

There is enough for one good sitting.

It was really nice!  Thanks.  She was so frazzled but she did good!  Everything came out great.  Her dressing was a little dry, even she said that, but it was her first try and she did great!  My home made cranberry sauce was a hit with the adults but the kids said they preferred the canned stuff.  Kids!  And my fresh pumpkin pie was awesome.  I've never turned pumpkin into pie.  She had the apartment decorated all cute and put out her fancy plates and cups.  She said her dishwasher had never done so many dishes in one day.  lol  It was really nice for me to come home to a clean house and just be able to put food in the fridge and be done!

Sounds fun, NJN!

I love fresh pumpkin pie. So much better than store bought.
