I was at the grocery store today and they had some baby formula on sale. I bought a couple of them. I asked to speak to the manager to see if they were doing a food drive. A couple weeks ago the fire department was out there collecting food. The manager didn't seem to know much of anything so DH and I just drove them over to the fire house. I got to meet one really nice fireman and he was really sweet about taking the formula and said he'd get it where it needed to go.

Sounds like you all will have fun.  I've been to Kauai twice and stayed once at the Princeville Resort and once in  a condo. What part of the Island will you be staying at?

My day ended up being fantastic. I am on a roller coaster ride at work.

NAOW that is scary. I'm glad you were there to make sure that little girl was treated.

Flan that is fantastic!

Not sure what else I missed. Please flame me for not responding to your posts. It will remind me!

My day started early....like way early. My boss is on a business trip to china this week. He texted me to email some reports for him. At 1 am! And then I had a heck of a time getting back to sleep. He was texting and emailing me again this afternoon, when it was 3 am in china. I'm convinced the man doesn't actually sleep

I think I would have mentioned it to someone important at the store. All you have to do is tell a store manager that a child hit their head and is showing signs of head trauma and just watch how fast they call 911. They don't want the liability.

I should have done that. I did tell an employee but she just said 'oh no, they should get her to a doctor.'

But, DUH! I should have found a manager. Thanks.

Eh, don't feel bad.  You were just asking what others would do.  I guess I wouldn't have done anything since she did eventually call the mom.  I probably would have mentioned it to a cashier when checking out though.  Maybe saying she needed to let a manager know.  If the grandma hadn't called I probably would have talked to the manager.  That's just me though.  I don't like to directly confront people and make it feel like I'm challenging their ability to parent.  A manager though can approach it in a store safety type way.

I'm glad you answered. I was really wondering what I should have done if she didn't take action. I've never been in that situation before, and I wanted to know what to do if I'm ever in it again and it doesn't work out the way it did this time.

Always listen to your gut. I would have said something to the manager and if they didn't listen I would have called the police/ambulance, given details over the phone and then left. It would have been taken care of.

Talking to a manager didn't even cross my mind, lol, it really should have. I was wondering if I should call 911, especially since she wasn't the mom and was apparently watching the baby while the mom was working. If my kid was ever in someone else's care and that person was making a questionable medical choice I would hope someone would do something.

Luckily, this is all moot, since she did take care of it, it's just what was going through my mind while I was waiting for her to do something.

You are right for thinking about that! I would want to know if it were my child too. We watch Marilyn but if something happened we'd just text her mom. Her mom knows that I am a nurse and DH was a medic so we would take good care of her. We would let her know if it were an emergency.

Tragedy, toddler version, definition of: When you hit your Mom's skillet with the melon baller and she takes away said melon baller.

Not long after that, he melted down over not being able to go with his Daddy to take the trash out. He didn't want to get dressed for going outside so he didn't get to go. Oh the horror!

It's so funny to watch the tantrum progress. His lower lip comes out then his face bunches up and disappears behind a wide open, wailing mouth. He also jumps up and down and flails his arms. Sometimes, he will throw himself on the floor and have a kicking, screaming fit.

I never was one to tolerate a tantrum.
