Thanks! DH said I did really good. It has since hardened really well. It's supposed to be like a candy dish. I'm going to have to find something to put in it. Mine did not come out all smooth like the picture but looks okay.

I think it looks great but you used a lot more peppermints than they did... therefore you got more of a dish than a bowl. The center point of the bowl was one peppermint, than 6, then 12. You used a lot more... But, It's really cute. Experiment! You did a good job!

Yeah. Well, I TRIED to line them up the way they said. Guess what? My peppermints were not all symmetrical! So it totally screwed up the pattern thing! ugh I also didn't realize my tiny bowl was well, much larger than theirs. I think she must have used a small cup or something. And I wonder where you get symmetrical peppermints!

 Nah.  I didn't.  I honestly started out trying to line them all up.  Then I was like WTF?  How did that biatch do that?  LOL There were spaces between mine because they didn't fit together right!  But I also didn't realize how much bigger my "bowl" was.  It looks good but not like the picture.  But still great for a first try!

 You don't!  You line them all up on parchment paper and bake them for a FEW minutes.  Just till they get soft but not until they melt.  Which is another thing that went wrong.  They said bake them for ten minutes.  I set the timer for eight and when I checked they were already melting on one side!  GACK!

Anyway, when they get soft they melt just enough to stick together.

If you seal it, it will last a lot longer.

If you don't seal it, it will be gross next year.

A friend of mine did a few last year. They didn't survive the season. Moisture made them sticky.

Do you have some big cookie cutters?

You can use those to make ornaments with the candies.

And you can use any hard candy you want.

If you try it, when you take it out and it's hot and pliable, use a pencil or knitting needle to make a hole for string or hook so you can put it on the tree.

I did see the ornament ones. I have some Christmas cookie cutters that my wonderful SS Tig bought me when I was her SS. But they're plastic. BUT, they made really nice perfect sized dog biscuits for my doggies!

 Mice, spiders and many bugs HATE peppermint.  Peppermint oil is a natural pest control.
