Yep!  I took 6 tags for kids that have no family, live at a school for troubled kids.  I've bought two Fast and Furious remote cars, need to get some VISA gift cards, and I wrap it all up with some scrumptious candy from my favorite local candy house.

This may not sound so nice but we personally screened them ourselves.  Asked on a certain local FB page for people meeting a certain criteria.  We have picked two single moms who work and don't qualify for welfare or the angel tree programs because of their income.  They both are struggling to get by.  We have a one year girl, a one year old boy, a two year old boy, and a five year old boy.

My son was in a car accident yesterday. He was sitting at a red light, minding his own business, when a humongous 18 wheeler turned the corner. My son saw it would not end well, and couldn't back up because there were cars behind him.
He was honking and honking "Look out! Stop! You're going to run my little Honda Civic over!" but the driver just kept going.
Sure enough, he showed me a picture of a huge tire crushing the hood of his new (to him) car.
I hope it can be fixed. It was a really nice little car, in mint condition.

Did a angel tree one year. It was for a 5 yr old girl.  The gift suggestions  sounded more like it was for the parent not the child. A t.v. set and a portable c.d. player.  I picked a Cinderella  portable  c.d. player just in case a child  really did picked it and a adult would look silly  walking around in it.  They had some problems  with the angel  tree here. Some "parents" were selling the toys for money. The kids didn't get to keep  their gifts.

Nope, doesn't sound bad whatsoever.  I would love to find some family like that.  I buy gifts for the charity I do because a friend of mine has been organizing it for decades.

The vet said the anti inflammatory was to reduce the inflammation in his urethra and "for the pain". It must be some good stuff. I squirted it in him mouth, feed him dinner, and he's been sounds asleep since - that was two hours ago! I'm sure the poor guy needed a good nap.

This, and what Lindley said, is why we did it the way we did.  DN and Sparkly wanted to adopt a family but when they looked at the tree everyone wanted Nintendo's, XBOX's, and bikes.  They don't have the money for that.  So we decided to go a different route.  We are going to get to meet the families too.  I think it will be fun.  The one mom of the one and two year old asked for a double stroller for herself when I asked what she wanted.  I found a beautiful used originally $260 jogging stroller for $40 online.  I'm going to buy it for her.

I chose mushrooms & Swiss cheese & sour cream. It was so big, I could only eat half.

This lady in town was asking for someone to make her a pecan and a pumpkin pie. Apparently she has to have it homemade for some reason. She is paying me $25 to make them for her. Was making them anyway!

Weltz, hope your son is good and the car is fixable.

Car shopping sucks. We went to four dealerships.

The car I like, I don't fit in. Honda Civic. I may not be overly tall but I have long legs. I needed the seat to go back about 2 more inches. And the other one I did like was too expensive.

Toyota Corolla was nice. Price was good. Sales guy was a little pushy. We know that Toyota can last a long time. DHs camry has over 250,000 miles.

Hyundai Elantra was nice. Price was good. Sales guy was nice. Not sure of longevity but Uncle's had over 100,000 before his accident.

Kia. It was okay. Price was good but they quoted a longer term than we wanted to get us the price we wanted to pay. Not sure of the longevity of Kia's.

Still want to look at another Nissan and at Ford. Maybe Mazda depending on how mechanic rates them.

Not interested in VW, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Buick. Who else am I missing on the smallish car market for around or less than $20k?

If you like the Corolla (both of my kids bought Corollas and have been very happy with them), go to the dealer's website, and price the car from them online.

Or call the dealership and ask for their Internet sales person, they have one and he or she will probably be very nice and very helpful.

Also, if you are a member of AAA or Costco, find out which dealership near you has their membership contract. Pricing for both is $750 over dealership actual cost, and they will give you the price and availability of the car you want, probably over the phone.

(This applies to all brands, not just Toyota).

A note on extended warranties ... pricing is negotiable. A friend bought a car recently, and in the final paperwork the dealer entered (added on) $2495 for a Platinum extended warranty, and $1495 for an extended tire warranty. My friend didn't notice, since it was on the 14th form they had her sign.

I did buy the platinum 100,000 mile / 7 year warranties on the last two cars I bought, but I paid $895 each time, after they tried to charge me $2495, which they claimed was "the factory price". There is no factory price. I had called a local Lexus dealer (Toyota customer service told me to) and was quoted $895, which the Toyota dealer matched without an argument.

Do NOT buy an extended tire warranty! It's a straight rip-off.

I love my Jeep, but our Ford Fiesta is cute, too. (And at 5'8",and a 32" inseam, I fit in it just fine. With a rebuilt back, I wouldn't want to have to get in and out of it every day. It's too low, for me. The leg room is great, though.)

Which Ford did you look at, jlbear?

My sister has the Focus, which is a bit bigger than our Fiesta.

She loves it.smile

My dad is on his second Chevy Cruz. He drives a lot for work, so I got the car at not quite a year and half old with 90k miles on it. Had 110k when I traded it in. There was not a thing wrong with the car and I was confident it would have lasted at least another 110k. Only reason I got rid of it really was that it wasn't mine. I ended up with it during a big car switch when my mom wrecked her car (also a Cruz btw). I really like my Equinox, but there are times I kinda miss the Cruz. It was a fun car to drive. Great on the gas mileage also

*to the seat issue, my dad is 5'11" and drives it 6+ hours to his job site and 6+ hours home twice a week

I had a Chevy Cruz as a rental. Hated it. My legs are longer than my Dad's. He was 6 feet tall.

Have not looked at Ford or Nissan yet. That will probably either be Monday or Friday.

Since we drive a lot of miles, probably most are highway but in stop and go traffic, something with really good gas mileage.

Definitely not looking at a lease since we drive between 20-30,000 miles per year.

Corgi woke up, we went out to potty, he had a cookie, and is now back asleep. I guess since all I want to do when I'm sick is sleep, I'm taking this as a good sign. He ate all his dinner without hesitation and has kept it all down, I also take that as a good sign.

I'm trying to stay positive. Even though I am literally worried sick. Thanks for being my support!

Wayne and Conor both drive Company cars. They are both stuck with the Chevy Impala.

I'm glad we don't own them.

Chevy is a piece of crap, IMHO.(Recall after recall after recall.no)

Not to mention, they took the government bail out.furious

I wouldn't give them a penny of my money.(Well, okay, they already get it from our taxes, whether we drive them, or not.)cry

Nor, would I buy a Honda, or a Toyota, or a Kia, or a VW, etc.

I'd be looking at Ford.

But, that's my opinion.

We all have one.wink

I just bought a 2015 honda Accord for $26,000. Thats with the 7 year bumper to bumper and a 4 year maintenence package.

I love it. It has more room and features than the Nissan Altima i had previously.

we traded in the Audi for the Honda. Never buy Audi/VW!! Total crapbox. Just riddled with design flaws.

Geez FWM, that sucks! We've had mostly good luck with our Chevys. With the exception, I had a 1995 Malibu that was horrible. It was a death trap. In the year I drive it, I had to put two sets of brakes on it and there was a crack in the engine block. Horrible horrible car.

I bought my Jeep Liberty in October of 2003. (She's a 2004, built in Toledo, OH. With some parts from Canada.)

We paid $18,600.

And Belle is still going strong! Twelve years later.smile

($26,000 for a car? Gosh, I haven't been car shopping for a while. That sounds like a lot, to me.)

Friend came over and we opened a bottle of wine. She is gone now, DD has a friend sleeping over tonight. Fire roaring. DS is driving home right now, somewhere in PA! I am so excited for tomorrow.

My dad always bought Chevys and Fords. My little rice burners always outlasted his cars.
I have a 16 year old Hyundai Tiburon and there's literally no rust on it. Beautiful car. Looks brand new and it's been outside in our winters. I don't have a garage.

LOL! Possibly! He's tall - about 32 inches now. He's currently in a growth spurt too so he'll probably add another inch at least over the next couple months. He'll be 2 next month.

DH would rather he play in the NHL though. Huge hockey fan. Me? I would be excited for him to make it into any pro sports league.

How big were Bunny's feet at almost 2?

I can't help but think of that Full House episode where Michelle dreamt that her feet grew to a comically huge size and wonder if DS is going to be wearing adult size shoes by the time he's in elementary school.

I think he wore a 6 at that age. Maybe your guy is destined to be tall.

We think he's going to top 6 feet when he's full grown. I'm 5'9 and DH is 5'11. We're both taller than both our parents by a few inches.

Oh my goodness  weltz that could have been  a whole lot worse. Glad he is ok.

The size on baby clothes is when they will grow out of it.  If it says 6 months - that is when it will be too small.  biggrin
