Was cleaning out my car yesterday.  I remember tripping over a tree root. Twice. Ankle felt fine and I went about a busy day with my company. After I got home last night the pain set in. It hurt so bad I wanted to scream. Still hurts today. I can barely walk. We are going to church and then I have a Thanksgiving dinner to cook. Yay me!

It's not broken. I'm sure I should stay off it though. I have it wrapped up and will take some pain reliever and I'll survive. Getting ready to prep everything and when we get in from church I just have to throw stuff in the oven.

Ouch. It's annoying when stuff like that happens. Too much stuff to do without having to deal with that for sure. But it could be broken. And the only way to determine that one way or the other is to get an xray. You should probably be icing it and resting it too

Corgi seems to be doing better this morning. I think he's still a little groggy from his pain meds. He slept thru the night without any accidents that I can find. Then had a fairly normal pee this morning. He excitedly ate breakfast and begged for a cookie. I am cautiously optimistic.

Oh ouch, SB. I hope your ankle feels better soon!

I'm glad Corgi is doing better today, DG!

We had our first freeze.

It was 31 degrees when I got up this morning.

Brrrrrrr.

Good morning, everyone!smile

Up for a few hours so far. One of my people at work had a death in the family and isn't coming in all week. The rest of the team is freaking out about how to reallocate her job duties. It's the busiest week of the year in grocery so you can imagine what we are dealing with. But these people freak out and act like we are doing brain surgery with rusty scalpels. It's going to be ok people. We sell groceries. No one is dying today because we ran out of nutmeg. They needed talked down off the ledge. Now that I did that...I can't fall back asleep.

SB, I don't think it's broke either. You probably bruised it really bad.

I bet it didn't start hurting until you took your shoe off.

Don't be a hero. Ask for help today. Hope you feel better soon.

Dona, sorry your kitty died. Sounds like he was little love bug.

MM, do you ever feel like all you do is put out fires? Is it common for so much, I don't know what to call it really, panic, I guess? With workers I mean. Hope your week goes smoothly.

Good morning LGS, IKWTDS, & FWM. And everyone else to pop in.

Beautiful sunny day. Just cool enough to make working outside comfortable. Good thing too. We have about 4 inches of leaves on the ground that need mulching.

Happy Sunday yall!

Someone gave us a box of REALLY REALLY ripe bananas - about 40-45 - guess who is going to be making banana bread all day long? Good thing they freeze well! Mini loaves, cupcakes, regular loaves, and a couple of rounds.

Dona ~ so sorry about your love-bug kitty.

SB ~ feel better quickly. Ice, elevation, rest! Let others pamper you all day today.

The banana themselves will freeze well too. If you slice them into about 1" pieces, freeze them, then blend them really well with about a tablespoon of peanut butter, it makes a sort of ice cream. You can add strawberries instead of peanut butter.

SB, take care of that ankle.

Dona, poor kitty.

Just peel them and stick them in a zip lock bag to freeze.

Sorry about your kitty, dona.

I finally bit the bullet this year and had our gardener remove our leaves. Best $300 every spent. I don't know why I haven't done this before.

Oh I agree ! Couldn't pay me to rake leaves. Finally gave up on that one and had the lawn service people do it. Worth every penny. Haven't had to worry about it in a few years...don't miss it

Lily - yes, that is all I do all day - put out fires. My department lacks systems and SOP's so everything is a crisis. The last manager was very controlling and didn't teach people the how/why of things. She just dictated from on high. So a lot of my time is spent training people how to think things through and problem solve. And a lot of time is spent setting up standard practices for common things they should be able to handle. A lot of the team has been in place for 5 years or more so if I try and change things, they freak out. "We have never done it that way" is their favorite phrase. It is a lot of work to turn things around but we make small strides every week.

Dona - sorry to hear about your kitty. So sad.

SB - put your leg up and let people help you.

 I feel for you.

I went to another store for training when we were incorporating a cobranding store.

I couldn't believe the ineptitude of the employees at that store.

The manager had trained them not to do anything that she didn't directly tell them to do.

No one could think for themselves.

I ran my store with the idea that if you see it needs done, do it.

It's crazy when people can't think through work.

 That's funny.

Are they being little brats today?

Don't worry.

Mine are 17 and 18 and I sometimes wonder why I took time to teach them to walk and talk.

Boys.

Gotta love'em.

Hey, don't you know that it is now environmentally friendly to leave your leaves where they lay?

Yes, they're being brats. Very argumentative today. I'd take my chances about missing them. I need to bring back those bouncy seats with the straps to keep them from getting out.

Meh, environmentally friendly. I'd rather go for aesthetically friendly.

We have a large, full (about 30 lbs), box that my mom just wants out of the way. She says, "put it in the chair, if it will hold it" I said mom, the chair holds DAD, I'm sure it will hold your box.

My DH is driving me nuts.  I love him dearly but he needs to go back to work.  The tv is constantly on sports or FOX news.  I may lose my mind.  He promises to help me and he does.  Then he gets way laid doing something else.  Like last night.  I was making pumpkin pie from scratch.  After he helped peel the pumpkin we had a bowl of the rind and junk inside.  He decided at that point to turn it into dog food because pumpkin is really good for them.  So off he goes to cook and blend all this stuff for the dogs.  Ugh.  He's a great guy with good intentions but you know...

 We don't remove them.

We run the mower over them.

By now, it has usually been done at least once.

But with all the rain we've had, it's just a mess.

And it grows mold and mildew in those damp leaves.

 Well no.

She fell into the mixer.

And had about three tons of feed dropped on top of her.

And then was crushed and had a foot ripped off with the motion of the knives.

We are really really hoping that she died instantly when the feed hit her. Anything else is just too terrible to contemplate.
