I'm sorry to hear that, MM.cry

Thanks. It's ok though. She is 88 and she lived a happy life. She wasn't always around for me, but she was true to herself and she loved me the best she could in her way. I know she misses Grandpa, and she won't be the same ever again without him. Her parents lived to be in their late 90's though so she could be around for awhile!

Glad you still have your grandmother around. 88 is up there in years.

It's always sad to see them loose their family and friends though. It makes life more difficult for them.

Is she living in her own home yet?

You're making me sad MM.

My mawmaw will repeat herself too.

She and I are close. We share our birthday. It makes me sick to think about having one without her.

I hope your grandmother keeps her memory.

It's raining cats and dogs here. I feel bad for the fans at the game.cry

I find the history of that expression interesting. Do you?

I never looked into it chef.

It's just one of those old expressions that I've heard, since I was little.smile

I read something awhile back about the history of frequently used expressions and that was one of them. It was something about how animals used to bury themselves in the straw roofs to keep warm and when it rained, the animals would fall through the roofs.

I just looked around a little bit, chef. The theory of animals living in straw roofs got debunked.

Here's a link: http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/raining-cats-and-dogs.html

Dead animals, floating down the street during a flash flood, sounds more reasonable, to me.

I wasn't aware it got debunked. Thanks for the correction :)

Well. Today I did something I swore I would NEVER do - I went shopping on Black Friday! And I survived.

DH decided he wants to get me a new computer for Christmas (this one has been giving me FITS!). He researched where he wanted to shop, so off to Best Buy we went - but only after lunch! No way was I going to be part of the hordes who waited outside in the bad weather!

We had the most helpful salesman - he was associated with HP, but he recommended a Dell touch screen that can be portable for up to two hours. So now I won’t have to print out a recipe in order to work on it - I can just bring the computer into the kitchen!

And Best Buy has “Geek Squad” who will set it up for me. I’ll bring this computer (tower, monitor, keyboard, and speakers) to the Squad, and they’ll transfer all the info onto the new computer. And the monitor looks HUGE - much easier on these old eyes.

Yeehaw! That sounds great, Momala!

I'm glad you survived the shopping!

And, I hope you like the new computer!smile

Tonight has been productive. DH got one of the kitchen cabinets sorted through and organized. We tossed anything that was broke or missing parts. We bagged up stuff DS doesn't use anymore - like his sippy cups - and figured we'd pass it on to parents with a younger child.

DS got rewarded with a half hour earlier bedtime tonight too. He was being a brat and whining all over the apartment so off to bed he went. He didn't like that very much but oh well. He must've been tired though because he was asleep within 3 minutes.

Took care of my grandson all day today and put up my tree tonight. Tomorrow is my husband's and mine 33rd anniversary. We will celebrate it next weekend.

 I kept a sippy cup. I was a favorite.

And it came in handy when tonsils came out.

Being a whiny brat is a sign they are wiped out.  Even at 7, I can see them hit a wall at times.  They are fine one moment, then boom.  Whiny messes.  Time to rest or go to bed if it's late. And by late I mean any time after 7.

Happy Anniversary, Lindley!

Even as an adult, I get whiny and bratty when I am overtired. Like last night at the car dealer. I was tired and hungry. We were there for about four hours.

But we did come home with a nice dark blue Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. I need to have them explain a few things with the financing today when we go back like why we got the interest rate we did (way higher than we should be getting).

Yup! We found out early on that if he pulls stuff like he did yesterday that he needs to either nap or go to bed, depending on the time of day.

OK -so Mom and niece were supposed to leave today, but we found out when we went to print the boarding passes that their flight is actually TOMORROW. So we have another day together - that's both a blessing and a curse. They argue about everything and anything and my mother goes from bitching about what DN does to immediately defending her if I call her out on something - like leaving her phone on the floor in a doorway where it is likely to get stepped on. I tell her that is not a good place to leave her phone and she needs to be more careful with her belongings, she is all like - stepping on it wouldn't have broken it (you know that how?) and mom is all like "She probably just forgot she put it there" and this is only thirty minutes after my mother was complaining about how irresponsible with her stuff she is. Sigh.
