Caitlyn and I went to the Dollar Tree this morning. I needed a few Christmas bags.

I wanted to buy all the sparkling things I saw.

I think I have a glitter addiction.

I think I'm having a Christmas meltdown.... I'm starting to feel overwhelmed and anxious. I hate shopping over the internet and worrying that it won't get here in time. I have a pile of laundry, 2 Christimas parties, Church Christmas dinner and play to do this weekend.

Pffft....you got PLENTY of time.  wink

I made a deal with G that this holiday season, I was NOT going to get overwhelmed and break down.  Thanksgiving was a success.  Dinner wasn't on the table at noon, but it was by 12:30.  In years past, I would have lost it.  This year was so much more relaxing. I'm doing the same with Christmas.  If I get start getting anxious, I take a break and chill for 15 minutes or so and indulge in my guilty pleasure reality TV shows.

Not yet.  LOL!!!

Actually, Secret Santa is stressing me out more than anything.  Some people have already mailed their packages, and I am still waiting for some stuff to arrive.  That make me nervous. cry

Ok. When I start to feel overwhelmed I break things down.

So. Decide what you need to deal with right now. And then just deal with that.

Have you placed the orders? If so, it's out of your hands now. So no amount of worrying will change anything. So don't worry. I'm waiting on things as well. One of which is the Christmas morning "big gift" for my son. But even if it isn't under the tree Christmas morning, he'll get it soon after. So. Don't worry about something you have no control over.

Laundry, decide what you just have to have. And I do towels last because it won't hurt if they sit in the dryer over night. Or a day or two in a basket.

Go ahead and get the clothes together for the parties. Everything you need. Put it all to one side and be done with it.

If you need to help with food for anything, ordering something is perfectly fine. Cupcakes from a bakery or a veggie or cold cut tray from the deli are always big hits.

The play is a runaway train. All the practices, decorations, costumes and lines have been set. Just enjoy the ride now.

Remember, to eat a whole elephant, take one bite at a time.

LOL! I will have to remember that saying.  I don't mind doing any of the activities its is just when it hits all in one weekend.   You are right about the internet stuff. It will get here and if worse comes to worse I will print off a picture and wrap it.   Thank you

I've done that several times.  DS got a motorcycle helmet one year and those have to be fitted right.  Do I printed out a picture and wrapped it.

another few times, gifts haven't arrived and I just wrap a picture in a box.  They actually got a kick out of it...

I remember getting a Christmas gift in May.

Mom had hidden it before Christmas and then couldn't find it.

I try to wrap things as I bring them in so if they are found, they still don't know what's in it.

big island. skiing. Mauna Kea (Hawaiian for 'white mountain') is a 13,796' (4205 meter) volcanic mountain whose summit sometimes gets a skiable/boardable mantle of snow. There are no lifts, no grooming, no resort, but a road goes to the summit to serve the dozen or so world class observatories located at the summit.

I want to do a beach themed Christmas scene and have that arched over it.

The weather is going to get cold again. Rain tomorrow, may turn to ice. Fun, fun.

The one I have now is old, sagging and wrinkled.

I even got my SMIL some cute slippers.  And DH got her some chocolate covered cherries.  We got my FIL the same thing we get him every year.  One of the meat and cheese things.  He loves them.  That's all he ever wants.  My SMIL had surgery last weekend.  "Female surgery".  That's all we're supposed to know.  FIL let it slip to DH that she was having a hysterectomy but no one is supposed to say that word.  Men don't talk like that.

I am almost always one of the last ones to finish my Christmas shopping. Our DS has me beat though, he does all of his shopping on the 24th!!

Brings the gifts home and expects me to wrap them!

Last year, his DGF wrapped them in the car as they were coming up here. LOL

We just had stocking stuffers left. I was telling my kids I was going to go get candy and they begged me not to. What? I have the only children in the world who DON'T want a stocking full of candy!

I'm done for the boys. Bought stocking stuffers this morning, but forgot to get some for Mr. FNW. I'll stop by the liquor store and get something for him and some Glenmorengie. Need to make fudge and distribute Saturday before church. Then I'll be done. Two weeks off to enjoy the boys!

There is also Haleakala (House of the Sun) on Maui, upon which it does snow some years.  The summit is at 10,023 feet.  Haleakala is a dormant volcano.  I have been to both summits when there was snow.  Very beautiful.

It snows on Mauna Kea every year, and snow boarding and skiing is very popular whenever there is snow and the summit is not closed due to high winds.

I miss not being able to travel this year.

I am still waiting on payday to buy one more gift.  I still have four gifts to deliver.  All my cards have been mailed out.  I have received 1 card so far and will probably receive 3 or 4 more.  Xmas cards are rare for me, and I cherish each one I receive, because at least someone thought enough of me to send one!  smile  Otherwise I am not into the holiday at all.  I am on vacation from the 22nd to after the New Year but am not doing anything special.  Just staying home.  No decorations, parties, etc.  I think it would feel more like Xmas if I had somewhere to travel and people who actually enjoy my company to spend time with.  I know most people bitch and moan about their families, but I would love to have that experience.  Just knowing that I have family would be quite awesome in my world!  biggrin

No one in my department at work has decorated.  I think we are the only department on the floor that hasn't, by looking at the cube farm.  I usually put up my small tree, but with the downsizing to a smaller workspace, a tree will not fit in my cubicle anymore.

I have all cards out, all gifts that need to be mailed, have been mailed, baking is done and gifts...ARE not wrapped at all, they are all over our guest room. I do daily go in there and organize the tape, scissors, paper and name tags, so I am all ready to go, but then after looking around I swoop right on out and shut the door. It really is not tons, but I AM JUST NOT IN THE MOOD!

We are under a Winter Storm Warning and tons of snow coming down and wind and dropping temps. I really need a snow day or two and I *promise* to get those presents wrapped...yes I will

You're sending all that wind, ice and snow my way, aren't you.

I forced myself to wrap what gifts we do have this afternoon. Only four left to get done!

On Thursday, (after the storm passes that you are send me) DH and I will finish our shopping. Hope to be done with the job over the weekend.

Not a single card has been mailed yet. I am so behind on cards..

big island.

 Thank you so much.

I'm too stupid to read about the other islands.

Glad you will be able to enjoy a nice long vacation over the holidays. Snuggle up with lots of good books, take lots of walks and just enjoy yourself.

Merry Christmas, my friend. smile

I have a solution for this.  Our church did it this year.  The Lottie Moon fund is in a serious deficit, so our church decided that we are not sending Christmas cards to each other and instead we are adding the cost of the cards and postage we are saving to our Lottie Moon offerings.  So, you could go on Facebook and announce that in lieu of Christmas cards this year, you will be donating money to Lottie Moon so that their missionaries can spread the word of Jesus to all the world.
