I love the reasoning, "It's such a beautiful and intimate time for a mother and her baby." Yes, that's EXACTLY when I want to invite the whole world in.

She glared at them because they were staring. She has every right to breast feed and they were trying to intimidate her. Just because some (few) new moms don't cover up like you'd like doesn't mean you blame every breast feeding mother. Wow.

She glared at her, took a picture and posted it and wrote about it.  She could have ignored the lady.

Where did anyone blame all mothers who nurse?  I don't care if a mother nurses or not.  Mothers has a right to nurse their babies and people have a right to eat and not be uncomfortable.  Cover ups are great and intimate and common courtesy goes a long way.

Read up thread. There were actually two people who blamed ALL mothers because a few didn't cover up enough for their liking.

I went back and read the thread, I still didn't see anyone blaming all mothers who nurse.

Most mom's I know use Bonny's method of nursing. Cami/t-shirt. Cami goes down, t-shirt goes up. Baby is eating uncovered with nothing showing. It really can be done.

No she said breast feeding bothered her not just being uncovered.

She can't look away if they're sitting in front of her. Unless they're at her table she certainly can look elsewhere but she CAN'T...

that is fine.  I think people are bothered more by just whipping out the boob in full monty.    When I had my first baby I just pulled up my blouse to nurse my baby and my poor nephew turned so red and embarrassed so I started to use a cover whenever I nursed in front of people.  I felt bad for him.

In this day and age, where is the tolerance?

Tongues and twerping are fine, but breastfeeding not so much.

I don't get it.

I don't even know you so I don't hate you.  You seem to have had a problem with me since day one. You're the one who has to insult me when you can't find a good argument and have the need to jump in no matter who I disagree with. Then you act all "I'm ignoring her" as you insult me. Try growing the hell up and stop the victim crap will you?

Look at your food, look at your husband. Being offended by something you CHOOSE to look at is silly. No matter WHO makes the statemnt it's just not true.

It is hard avoiding it if it is in your face.  I've tried to avoid looking at a guys butt crack in a café but it was real hard since he was sitting in front of my table and there was no where else to sit.  I've nursed in public but used a cover.  It is just common courtesy and it doesn't take to much effort.

 OF COURSE IT IS!

Butt cracks, or guys with beer bellies & a too-small T-shirt, gals wearing clothes 3 sizes too small...

I breastfed both my boys & frankly, I didn't want strangers looking at my b00bs.

flan

Then don't show other people your boobs. NO ONE is saying you HAVE to nurse in public--but what you and a few other fvcking whiners want in society is IRRELEVANT.

I kind of knew you'd feel this way. You are a man after all...Seriously, I find that the uncomfortable (fear) feeling about boobs to be just weird. You'll (general you) watch someone beingtortured and killed on tv but show a boob and you blow a gasket. That's just wrong.

ETA At least I won't have to worry about flan coming in to save you because we actually agree. Which we do more than you and flan do believe it or not...lol

Yes, it's a mother's choice and she can also choose to do it discretely OR "make a statement."

I breastfed both my boys & frankly, I didn't want strangers looking at my b00bs.

And yet, you enjoy porn.  I guess its OK to look at boobs on your terms?

ZOMG! A woman who enjoys porn. Burn her at the stake.

It's MY CHOICE to pop in a DVD & watch with DH.

But yet it shouldn't be a woman's choice to breast feed her baby in a restaurant?  You make less sense all the time.

 Try READING what I post.

Yes, it's a mother's choice and she can also choose to do it discretely OR "make a statement."

Cuz defiant glares always change people's minds...

So then what are you arguing about???  Her "glaring"?  Which is probably completely mistook by the person watching.  Dumb.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

IMHO, it is just as rude to watch as it is to glare.

She said she couldn't not look. I call bull. Sure it may make you uncomfortable so why are you looking?

But just because she is not using a cover or doing it the way you would prefer her to, does not necessarily mean she is 'making a statement'. She is just nursing her baby the way she  and baby are most comfortable.

I finely looked at the article. If she had lifted up her shirt instead of pulling down her top and whipping out the full monty no one would have cared.

That is not true, there have been several articles about women shamed for nursing discreetly with the top shirt pulled up and a nursing tank underneath. People are offended to even know a baby is breastfeeding nearby.

Most of the time no one even notices when someone is breastfeeding.

An experienced mom knows how to do it with out drawing undesired attention.

There have been a couple times I wondered what the moms were thinking though.

One was more about wondering how the baby didn't smother.

That was the biggest boob I'd ever seen. Covered most of the baby. Hands and feet sticking out from under it like an anvil on the coyote.

Couldn't help but stare.

 This made me LOL!

I get more offended when stuff starts coming out the other end of baby.

It's a baby suckling on a nipple. Grow up people.

Maybe  majority  is the better  word.  I don't care if someone  is nursing  their baby, just don't want the full monty.

I have never been offended.

And I have seen a lot of women breast feeding in public.

Just not on my radar.

Neither have I.

Seems juvenile to be offended by something so innocent.
