I believe it's not too hard to drape a little receiving blanket on your shoulder. Just pull the blanket down to just above babies face. If you are nursing correctly, nobody can even see your boob. Then when baby is done, pull the blanket the whole way down to put things away... That way you are not exposed at any point.


It's not rocket science.

On one of the mommy boards I'm on, someone opined that expecting breastfeeding mothers to use a cover is rude because we don't cover ourselves when eating so why should a baby have to be covered in order to eat. I hadn't thought about prior to reading it but I have to agree. It can't be all that comfy to eat with something over your head.

Luckily I didn't have to nurse in public very often, but DD1 HATED the cover. She kicked and waved her arms the entire time while I tried to hold her in one arm and hold the damn cover in place with the other.

I don't remember DD7 having any issue with it though.

I don't even think you need a cover. Like I said, most women I know follow Bonny's method. Cami/t-shirt. Cami down, t-shirt up. I am not bothered by a baby nursing. However, as Lindley said, this lady had the full monty going on.

I've only read the first page, but so far I just want to say the following: It's a breast being used for it's intended purpose, the nourishment of the mother's baby. People need to seriously get over it.

But also, I understand the "I don't want to see that!" opinion that some people have. That's why someone that wants to breastfeed in public should do it discretely. I'm not suggesting a cover up or anything macabre, just don't be one of those "I have to take everything off and show both of my ta-tas to the world first, THEN I can get along to the feeding" women.

When watching porn in the privacy of your own home, boobs are expected. When walking down the mall, or sitting at a restaurant, I believe they are less expected.

Maybe one day that will change if this #freethenipple thing I've heard about gains enough traction, but until then, boobs in public is just not something people expect to see.
