I've got to find some really useless crap to give my SMIL as a Christmas gift. Every single year she goes out of her way to get me the most useless gift ever. I tried really hard last year and she actually liked what I got.

Find one of those useless items at Walmart.  A chia pet!  A velvet portrait of dogs playing poker. The geeks can help with this!

Good morning!

The sun is shining here as well. Bring on the melting!!

Happy B-day to LGS's DD!

Still not in the mood to decorate. Gosh, I will pull one of my formerly famous, last minute rush jobs.

Hope everyone has a great day. It's almost the weekend!

It's never too late to learn. My Mom (75) is taking piano lessons because she always wanted to learn and now she has plenty of time to practice!

I started piano lessons when I turned 40. Took them for a few years. I've lost the time to practice after having the boys, but still try to sneak it in every once in awhile.

I agree, it's never too late to learn.

So one of my clients called yesterday & told me he scratched his car backing out of the garage. I took that to mean he got too close to the side of the door & scratched his car. I got the official report from the adjuster this morning & what it really means is he backed into a parked car. Dude, why wouldn't you lead with that?!?

Morning all! Sunny but chilly today.

Waiting at the doctors for annual woman's exam including a mammogram. At least they have an entertaining fish tank.
Will be shopping for 30 children later today for the Lodge's annual Christmas party. Just not sure of what to get the 9-10 year olds both boys and girls. Any suggestions in the under $40 range?

Yea, DS is testing gravity this morning.

Happy birthday to your DD LGS! Is she having a party?

Buying all those presents sounds fun jlbear! I second flan's suggestions. If you can find any marshmallow shooters, they have been a hit at my house with DD and her friends. I think they're about $20 a piece.

Good luck with the interview Bonny, hopefully it's a good offer.

Thanks.  I'm torn because I know its like 10k more a year, but my current job is super flexible about me being a working parent.  I've never been given any flack for missing work for a sick kid and I get to leave on time every day.

Crayola has all kinds of cool stuff.  Every year I see their commercials & think I want that.  Probably just for the girls.  I'm not sure 10 yo boys would think it's so cool.

Our Target has a really crappy toy department.  Toys R Us is huge.

I didn't read it as gender neutral toys.  I assumed some girl toys & some boy toys.

Happy birthday to your DD LGS.

On the news front SS's mom says she is divorcing her DH. She had him served once before and then changed her mind. Hopefully this time will stick. He's going to prison for awhile apparently.

Not in that house it doesn't.  I love my SS dearly and we would love to get custody of him but the courts just don't see it like it's a danger.  And it's worse now that she's getting a divorce because the courts will say that she's putting her life on track.  She'll just get another loser b/f.    She's always had loser b/f's.  And yes that includes my DH.  She married him when he was a full blow drunk and divorced him when he got sober.  He wasn't "fun" anymore.  Anyway, without DH working right now filing for custody is moot anyway.

Her DH is on probation for beating her up two Christmases ago.  We took custody of SS for a month so she could heal and hid from him.  He beat her so badly he tore her calf muscle and knocked teeth out.  He took a shot gun and shot the house up and then held the kids and her at gun point.  When the cops finally got there he kicked in the window of a cop car and kicked one of their mirrors off their car.  He was arrested for domestic violence but already had pending drug charges.  He was put on probation for the domestic violence charge because they begged him to take probation because they planned on putting SS on the stand.  A ten year old giving testimony in court is pretty powerful.  On the drug charges he gave up his dealer and they dropped the charges.  But he has to stay out of trouble.  He recently got in a fight and ended up in county.  His mom bails him out every single time.  This time is a bit different.  He has two daughters, besides the one by SS's mom, from two other women.  He hasn't been paying child support and was 25,000 behind.  They caught him and threw him in jail.  His mom had to come up with the whole 25,000 to bail him out.  She is dirt poor so we have no idea where the money is coming from.  However, because he broke his probation he will go to prison now.

He was supposed to be taking SS to some fancy dinosaur exhibit this weekend.  We weren't going to have SS.  He was so excited about the dinosaur thing.  We're going to have to plan something fun for him.
