Still waiting....seems like I will be waiting forever. No response means they know I am right...
Good to know! :)
I don't know what you're waiting for. I already told you that the teacher made the right decision. The subject was bringing a family pic to display with a dead baby. The teacher decided it wasn't appropriate. That's it.
Im waiting for a response to a child bringing in a picture of their mother that died 2 weeks ago. Is that appropriate?
Sure. That's appropriate as long as it's not a picture of her dead in her coffin.
There would be nothing wrong with that either. The only way I would consider pictures of the dead wrong is if it were the actual death scene pictures with blood and injuries.

Um. I disagree. A picture of a dead woman in her coffin is inappropriate in an elementary situation.
What about a woman on her death bed, the last picture of her and her daughter? Bald head, emaciated, but the last picture of them together...think Joey Feek...

What about her? Is this a school lesson about her or something?

OMG. I would not want a picture of me with my daughter on my death bed but.... if I did, I wouldn't want it shared... in an elementary school... with a bunch of kids who have no clue. What could they possibly gain from that? Now you're just being stupid.

You may not, but Joey and her family does. Death is a part of life. To ignore that is retarded...

The last thing I want in my life is a picture of me posted for the world to see on my deathbed! I HATE when people post pics of themselves in the hospital hooked up to machines or what have you. It's ridiculous! I don't plan on having pictures of me dead. I want to be cremated and I want those that love me to remember me alive. Ugh. I hate when people use social media for their own agenda.

But for the people that do? You want to deny that?

You know what's retarded? Your arrogance. You just can't think past yourself. Leave me out of your agenda to prove something that's damaging to everyone else but yourself. Please.
Wow. That's really unfair. He's a kid. You smile in pictures. That is what kids do. He doesn't know how he is supposed to act in this particular situation.

It shouldn't be an act anyway. He should feel sad for his mom & dad even if he doesn't understand that he should also be sad for his stillborn sibling.

Arrogant to realize death is reality? That is the epitome of retarded.

Hell just take the kids in for an autopsy and let them ride with EMS and pickup gunshot victims. Then send them to the brothel for some sex ed. What the hell.

Wow. Another totally ignorant statement criticizing a child and how he should look in a photo taken with his dead sibling that his parents made him take.

Birth is a part of life too. Let's just let kids bring in pics of their siblings heads crowning in the vajayjay. Part of life. I think I'll take pictures of my next pap smear. Another part of life.

My kids have seen autopsies. At 10, they were taken to the morgue by their school. They arent stupid. ...

Handing out porn would be illegal. Seeing a picture of a dead baby is not. And yes, my kids were spanked at other people's houses...

Depending on the porn, for example if it's Playboy style pictures (while they still have them), I think I'd rather a child see porn than a dead baby.
"Legal" doesn't always mean "right" and "illegal" doesn't always mean "wrong", those words just mean what will and won't get you in trouble with the authorities.
Are we being punked? Or did an alternate reality just come into existence?
Who knows. This thread is totally bizarre.

No sh!t. Why don't we allow that in the classroom???! lol!

I agree. I mean, at seven, these kids should be exposed to every aspect life has to offer. We absolutely should get grandpa in to show off his hemorrhoids.

You gave everyone permission to spank your kids. I'm not surprised they went to the morgue. Do you want a medal or what?
And while we're at it show off some pics of amputated toes because well, there's a crap ton of diabetics in DH's family. Lots of them are missing body parts. We need to throw that out there too.

Bring in a drug addict too. That's another part of life kids have to deal with. Wait, I'll let my SS bring in pictures of his house after his step father shot it up because domestic violence is a part of life too.

Death is part of life. There is no point in shielding kids from that.

Sex and seeing people or the opposite gender naked is also a part of life, but we shield kids from that. Some things kids need to be shielded from until they, hopefully, reach a maturity level where they can handle it. I think images of death should be just as disallowed to kids as sex and nudity, otherwise what's the point? The bad stuff is okay, but the beautiful stiff that helps create life isn't? Is that really the lesson we want to teach kids?

Yep...my kids are far beyond most of these other grown kids...

Let's not forget people... We are talking about 1st graders! ok? And teacher's responsibilities regarding this tender age. That's what we are talking about.

If you say so. I've got some pretty amazing kids myself btw... and their mother isn't calling others retarded.
My answer to the "what about the 1st grader who's momma died last week?" question:
Let him bring in pictures of her while she was still alive. He can say "This is what my momma looked like before she died." Then he could even say what she died of (if he knows). He doesn't need to bring in a picture of her corpse, and he shouldn't do it.
