As long as all the qualifications are equal, they pull equal duties & responsibilities, and they aren't a burden on the divisions or squads they are members of, I only really see one problem: Chivalry. How do you train out chivalry? "Protect the women" is almost built into male DNA.
I see many problems created by women being in combat. Not "fraternization" or even "inability to be equal to the task", but problems arising because men of honor will try and prevent harm to women. I see a captured mixed gender squad being interrogated, and the men giving up information when the women start being tortured. I see male taking risks they otherwise wouldn't take to secure the safety of female soldiers and possibly getting shot or killed where they wouldn't have taken the risk to protect another male soldier.
I would not besmirch the Canadian military. They have a long and proud tradition and have been the staunchest of allies from Flanders fields to the beaches of Normandy to the Middle East.
However, to extrapolate what the Canadian military does to the U.S. military and assume it will work out exactly the same is just silly. The size and scope of the U.S. military dwarfs all but two other nations on the planet. The sheer number of troops in various combat situations is really not comparable.
Again, I'd have much less of an issue with it, anyway, if the requirements for service were the same for men and women. Heck, lower the ones for men if you want to and allow more males in if that's what you really want--but they should be the same.
Another poster seemed to think that the number of pushups one could do didn't necessarily have any bearing on how good of a soldier they were. Fine, then allow men lower requirements. If a good soldier only needs to do 13 pushups, then why can't men who can only do 13 pushups be just as good as a female who can only do that many?

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

Equality is necessary, but is it always good?
Is that why there is so much domestic violence? Because chivalry and the urge to protect is built into the male DNA?

you're obviously not american--the reason we have so much domestic violence is because for decades we have no longer been raising men--instead, we've been raising little boys and little girls with little to zero emphasis on honor and personal responsibility--raised like cattle instead of being to raised to do what's right and honorable for its own sake rather than to satisfy some expedient desire

It's slow and it will be too late to do anything about it when all those idiots with the blinders on realize it.
But I just get followed around and mocked.

Lily, I'm glad you're here. Come up with anything yet? Anything at all? Any post will do. Anything at all, with me praising Muslims and saying how great they are.
Oh. I'm not lying.
Not drunk cause I don't drink.
Why would I be hallucinating?
You are the one who said how great they are.
I read your posts.
You'll sing their praises even when it's your neck on the chopping block.

And I'm glad you're here.
Just about all your posts on the subject are full of Muslim sympathy.
Now. Can you answer MY question?
How would taking guns away from law abiding citizens keep guns our of the criminal's hands?

ROTFLMAO! So it can't be that hard to find just one, can it? Maybe you can enlist some of your buddies and make a game of it.
After all, if "just about all my posts are full of Muslim sympathy", it should be a piece of cake. Just one.
You won't find a single one, however.
Your white-knuckled grasp on reality is tenuous, at best.

Exactly this. And also why I qualified my earlier remark, in the middle of my second paragraph, with "men of honor", thereby obviously excluding those without any.
IMHO, this is a fake posed picture. That gun would knock a lot of men on their a$$. The recoil alone would break her shoulder without a mount.

I agree with you that the picture is posed, but the recoil from an M-16 (which that appears to be, outfitted with an M-203 "under barrel" grenade launcher) is not as bad as many people think.
