Sooooo. If 1.6 BILLION people are all terrorists, why one earth are any of us still alive? If entire governments are secretly radicals and want all non muslims to be destroyed, why haven't they yet?
How do you guys even believe the nonsense you post?
????? They have been trying to do so for centuries. Mostly, the Western world has fought back--from Charles "the Hammer" Martel on to the present day.
Pretty much, the religion has been isolated to the Middle East as a majority of the population--and where it is a minority, it doesn't have the power to wipe everyone out--but they are trying. Haven't you been paying attention to the news, lately?

Of course he's not going to admit it publicly. THAT'S THE POINT.

In 1979, Iran was the most Westernized country in the Middle East. Women had unprecedented rights there compared to the rest of the Muslim World. In urban areas, few even wore their burkhas, hijabs, or whatever. Their economy was rapidly becoming capitalist. They had a growing, educated, middle class, especially in the urban areas.
Why was the Shah overthrown? Was it because he was a corrupt, wealthy dictator with his foot on the neck of his people? Absolutely not. While he might have been corrupt, his people had freedoms found nowhere else in that part of the world.
Who overthrew him? The poor, downtrodden lower class? Again, absolutely not. It was an urban, educated, "intelligentsia" class who wanted to return to the former, conservative ways--Sharia Law.
Since 1979, Iran has been a backwater economically. It's people are FAR poorer than in 1979. There are fewer educated people, especially women. Rights and freedoms have been severely curtailed--especially for women.
You think this is some "radical" movement? They overthrew an entire government--and have held sway there for the last 30+ years.
Anyone who doesn't think they want to do the same thing anywhere they have the power to do so is a flat out idiot.

I have a pretty strong memory of the aftermath of Komenie (sp).
Women were forced to hide, forced out of schools, jobs and of life in general. The World Women's Conferences of the 80's and 90's were filled with horror stories from inside Iran.

I'm going to agree with Husker. I'm amazed at the general ignorance of history. What has happened to women in the Middle East is horrifying. It's one of the reasons I can't sympathize much with the uber feminists in this country. If women's rights were that important to them - they'd be fighting for the world b/c there are places where women are still nothing but property.

Oh sure, a shooting happens in California they might tune in for a bit--but even with all that's happened in the Crimea in the last few years, how many kids today could find it on a map?

Have you ever watched a segment of waters world on bill o'reily? He goes around and ask people questions like who won the civil war and other basic history questions. You would be surprised how little of history people don't know. A lot of them were college students.
I remember the fall of the Shah, too. I was a little older.
I really have no sympathy at all for the Muslim women. Particularly after San Bernardino.
Thats sad. Most of these women are being brutalized by men, given little to no education and are trapped. They have no way of getting out of their situation.

That's not what I said at all. I think its sad that you don't have sympathy for any of the Muslim women. The terrorist from S.B. should have been killed on site, but that doesn't mean their aren't lots and lots of women who want out of crazy Sharia law.

It doesn't matter if they are a "terrorist", or not. The goal of the religion is the same whether it comes by way of terror, or simply becoming the majority in a certain state or area.
If you don't believe it--then find ONE example in history where Muslims have become the majority and that society has more rights after that than before.

Yet you rail against Christianity at every turn and support Muslims every chance you get.
I don't "rail." I just get so tired of the air of superiority that some posters exude.

Yes, you really do. You make digs at Christianity every chance you get, you argue against Christian beliefs. You are the second most anti-Christian on the board. If you can't see that in yourself, some self-reflection is in order.

Do you even read what you write? Nobody said every Muslim is a terrorist. Not at all. I think i have said 100x that not every German was a Nazi. Not every Russian is a comunist, blah, blah. So, what? We are at war with ideology that is killing Americans. We can continue allowing the deaths of INNOCENT people here or we can really to target and fight and yes, sorry, but some of their Innocents are going to get to killed as is the nature of war. We arent' attacking them. They are attacking us. Wake up.
huskerbb does have a point. Never in history has society progressed towards equality anywhere the Muslims are or were in control. That's not to say that all Muslims are bad. But the religion itself is not one that's conducive to individual rights, especially the rights of women. The facts speak for themselves.
