According to Lily, I shouldn't get to vote because I'm not a property owner.  Yet I work and pay taxes and have been since I was 15.  That's 33 years of working and trust me, I'm not retiring anytime soon.  I have never not worked.  Only time I've ever not worked was 6 weeks maternity leave 3 times.  But I shouldn't get to vote.  confuse

In places like Miami and NYC, about 70% of people are renters. I guess they shouldn't be allowed to vote.

 The very idea is preposterous.

 Yes.

Unemployment only lasts so long and is meant to get people through until they are employed again.

Downsizing, lay offs, and closings are not the choices of the employees.

My comments were tongue in cheek. But I can tell you that Lily's attitude is highly offensive. She thinks she's so much better than everyone else when, in fact, as LL said she is a convicted felon who is sucking up disability. AND, how quickly we forget that Lily was just recently receiving food stamps.

Like Msrock we rent. We pay our rent on time and often pay it ahead of time. We are responsible. And I'd love to know Lily's theory on who pays my property taxes. That is an ignorant ass statement. If anyone thinks our landlords are sucking up the property taxes out of their own pockets they are really uneducated. Property taxes are figured into our rent so basically we ARE paying our property taxes.

We have rights as citizens and for someone to think they are better than someone else and their vote should be taken away is mind boggling. And it's especially mind boggling coming from someone who is always constantly screaming about how she wants her right acknowledged. Well here's news for you. You start curtailing other people's rights and soon yours are gone. And don't gripe about it when it happens.

They very easily could if they WANTED to.  It comes down to being lazy.

My landlord raises the rent because the property taxes have gone up. That means I'm paying property taxes, but according to Lily, people like me shouldn't be allowed to vote.

 Yes.

So by my own standard, I couldn't vote when receiving  food stamps.

See how that works?

And again, I didn't choose to be disabled.

Your son is disabled.

Did he choose that?

No.

No. My son didn't choose to be disabled. But the difference between him and you is he's a loving caring person who doesn't want to take everyone else's rights away from them.

No, people don't choose to be disabled. But many who are in that category could do SOMETHING, but choose not to.

Most are not bedridden and completely crippled.

 I don't either.

But I don't want just anyone being able to decide who runs our government.

And I didn't choose to be disabled.

But you did a good job trying to shame me for it.

Hope you feel you feel better about yourself.

And before you throw stones, you've admitted to being on government assistance.

So what gives you the right to look down your nose at me?

Why not?  Just because you can't do everything doesnt' mean you can't do SOMETHING.  Sorry, but there are lot of "disabled" people who simply just don't want to work.

 True.

However it does become a limited pool of options.

In my case, since this seems to be about me, I was accessed by an occupational therapist, two doctors and a judge.

I didn't wander in and just sign up.

It was a 3 year process.

Yes. I have admitted to being on food stamps in the past. Twenty years ago. But I'm also not the one here judging everyone else and saying who should have the right to vote and who shouldn't.

 I'm not judging.

I called no one to the carpet.

I stated an opinion.

No, it doesn't.  Because you were there, and you now think yourself better because you've switched from welfare and food stamps to a disability check.  Somehow, you think that suddenly makes you a more worthy citizen than a struggling mother on welfare.

 Not true.

What I understand is those depending on the government vote that way.

It's like this.

Candidates can not give gifts or incentives to "buy" a vote.

And I did amend my statement to say that perhaps it would be better to have a requirement of time.

I know, right?  There is no other reason that I can see that Barack Obama got the presidency twice.   It baffles me.  Too many people thought they were going to get something for nothing.  Now we have no benefits in the workplace.  Obamacare wiped that out.  Employer health care plans are gone now.  It's going to be tough going forward for the next generation.  It's like people really bought into the idea though.  Now they got nothing.

I just want Trump to make America great again. He's the only one out there with the guts and the wherewithal to possibly do that. I could be the stupidest person in the world... or I could be the smartest. I don't know that we have anything left to lose. These are desperate times.

Then who?  Who is going to be that person that can get us out of this crisis we are in?  Are you really satisfied with your government as is?  Because I think they all suck.  Democrats and Conservatives alike.  They don't do anything really worthwhile.  Nothing.  They keep taking, but they don't offer anything in return.  I'm sick of all of them.  That's why I like Trump.  He's not one of them.

Neither is Bernie. And HE is a decent human being, not a pathological liar, and a racist xenophob to boot.

Trump is slime. Lower than low. You think he cares about the American people? Look at the way he treats people! His employees,  his aides, all of them! He has contempt for the whole world, and he only wants to be president because he thinks he deserves it.

Scum.

Bernie actually cares about people. Look up his voting record, especially for returning vets! He never forgets his job, he never lets people down.

I have my doubts about Trump. My DH is a news addict and I've seen so many interviews with Trump. I've heard him say more than once that he'll say whatever people want to hear. I don't want another person that will just say words to get votes.

Trump is not slime.  His family proves that.  Does he poke fun?  Sure!  He only laughs in the face of ridiculousness and he's right.  Everything that's going on right now with our government is ridiculous!  He cares more about this country than most because he's putting his money where his mouth is.  He's not operating on campaign funds.  He's funding his campaign by himself!  He wants to turn **** around and I think he can.

He's saying what everyone wants to say but they are afraid to.  He says things that we talk about in the privacy of our own homes.   He's probably the most honest of the bunch.  They can't say what they really want to, but he is. He's not bought and paid for by the establishment... very refreshing for those of us who are tired of talking heads and political correctness.

It doesn't bother you that he's basically buying himself a Presidency?

Oh ok.  He's not slime.  He's a good person who cares about his family and his country.  He creates jobs for people which allows them to support their  familes and live the American dream which is s hell of a lot more than the rest of them have done.  In case you havent noticed it doesnt take any particular skill to be a legislator and sit in an office signing bills.  Trump brings Executive competence which is what this country needs.

Sanders doesn't have a prayer. He ruined his own campaign when he went to the debate and spent his time licking Hillary's boots.
