Morning all. Warm here again. Rain will be moving in tomorrow for a few days. We will be expecting much cooler temps for the new year. We are having snow at church today! I can't remember the last time our power went out. It was kind of lucky that I had gotten up early & was watching a DVD or we might not have known.

I'm really excited about taking DD and a friend away to the mountains over NYE. We have a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen so I plan on making most meals. My sis made some yummy chicken wings at Christmas that DD love so I plan on making some at home and bringing them with us. Need a few more ideas.

For an easy lunch, I'd take the cheese/crackers/fruit thing, maybe with some soup.

Breakfast - Bagels, cream cheese and lox.

Dinner, make a lasagna at home before you go and then you just have to bake it when you get there. Don't forget the garlic bread!

You could freeze a meatloaf and thaw and cook, too. And spaghetti sauce. That's what we brought with us when we vacay in a house. And bring stuff to put in crockpot.

Do they like pasta salad? That's an easy thing to bring and you eat it cold. What about taking along your crock pot and making a chicken in it when you are there? Easy and you don't have to actually DO anything all day, just wait for it to be done.

We are taking down all Christmas stuff today (before I get any grief, DD's birthday is next weekend and I like to keep Christmas and her birthday separate) and then starting our project of painting the trim and cabinets. Later we may run to the hospital to visit friends who just had their baby.

My friend is in charge of cooking because her sister (whose house dinner is at) just had a new baby girl, so she's getting Princess treatment. I can't wait!! Friend and I have done holiday dinners before - we're pretty good cooks together.

Ok, making chicken wings, I bought cereal, and "gasp" mac and cheese. I also have the ingredients for Shirley Temples and nachos. That will get us through more than half the meals. We will go out for breakfast one morning and one dinner.

We are having Christmas with the kids today. G assembled everything that needed to be, house is clean, ham is in the oven, deviled eggs are made...mac and cheese and Gs famous mashed potatoes will be done shortly. About to jump in the tub and *gasp* actually put on some makeup!

IKWTDS, 2 days, you shouldn't need a ton of food. Spaghetti is easy and most kids like it. Some sandwich stuff and fruit and you're good. Don't forget the smores.

If you look, you'll see a place where the water is almost glassy and then the rough water starts. That's a 4 foot drop.

The picture is one mile from my house.

That's just the best place to see the magnitude of the flooding.

Every river, pond, creek, basically every body of water flooded.

Ga. 2 was under water. That's where this picture is.

We had several roads closed.

The good news is no one got hurt and nothing happened that required emergency help in anyone's home.

Njn, and lily please stay safe. I have friends and family in Dallas and will have to get in touch with them soon. The picture is on my computer. Flan when Christmas is over it is over for me. I've been known to take the tree down the day after Christmas I would now but feeling lazy today.

I need to get the outside taken down tomorrow since snow is coming Tuesday. I would prefer to leave them up but I've made that mistake before and ended up waiting until the end of March to get them down because of the weather and everything being frozen to the ground.
