I was on I-80 once, when there was a big forest fire north of the highway, and I drove through one section where it was jumping over the highway and spreading to the south.

It was daytime, and it wasn't as scary as this video. But I'll never forget.

Much improved, but not totally cleared. I'm okay as long as I take the Robitussen on schedule.

Spouse wants me to go back to the doctor, I don't want to spend the money. (Maybe I'm being foolish.)

Thank you for asking!

It is scary driving by them. you never know when the flames will jump over you, in front of you, etc.

I hope you feel better soon, ed!

I've never driven through a forest fire. That has to be scary.

I voted other, because a next door neighbor of ours, was burning some brush, and it got out of control.

We felt a little silly, calling the fire department.

But, they told us we did the right thing.

(When we couldn't put it out with the garden hose, after trying for about five minutes. We called for help.)

They had a couple of Jeeps with tanks of water and hoses. They had it out in a minute or two.smile

If it's just a mild bronchitis, there's really nothing more a doctor CAN do, except for symptomatic relief. Codeine suppreses the cough reflex, so that may help, especially at night.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I've had it myself a few times. PITA.

We drove through the heavy smoke coming back from Florida. 1999 or 2000. North Florida was on fire. It was crazy.

Drove through a brush fire - on both sides of the highway and in the median.

Some duffus put a kettle-type grill - FULL OF LIVE COALS - in the back of his pick-up to bring to a party. Driving at 75 mph (highway speed in that area) - didn't he realize the coals would be fanned by the wind? And would blow out of the kettle? In the middle of our worst drought in history?

Couple of hundred acres burned, plus 2 rigs at a campground. They finally caught him though - someone had a cell phone with video, and gave it to the state troopers. I'm sure it was a VERY expensive lesson!

I've driven past one, and I saw one start across the street from the boys' preschool so I was on with 9-1-1 before it could spread. (Electrical wire caused it). I've also helped evacuate my parents when one came dangerously close to their home.
