Read the UK Government's Response to 'Ban Trump' Petition' (ABC News)

The government of the United Kingdom today responded to a petition with over 500,000 signatures calling for Donald Trump to be banned from entering after he released a statement earlier this month, calling for a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States.

"The government has a policy of not routinely commenting on individual immigration or exclusion cases," a statement said.

"The Home Secretary may exclude a non-European Economic Area national from the UK if she considers their presence in the UK to be non-conducive to the public good.

"The Home Secretary has said that coming to the UK is a privilege and not a right and she will continue to use the powers available to prevent from entering the UK those who seek to harm our society and who do not share our basic values. Exclusion powers are very serious and are not used lightly. The Home Secretary will use these powers when justified and based on all available evidence.

"The Prime Minister has made clear that he completely disagrees with Donald Trump’s remarks. The Home Secretary has said that Donald Trump’s remarks in relation to Muslims are divisive, unhelpful and wrong."

"The Government recognizes the strength of feeling against the remarks and will continue to speak out against comments which have the potential to divide our communities, regardless of who makes them. We reject any attempts to create division and marginalization amongst those we endeavor to protect."

Donald Trump had called for a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States until "our country's representatives can figure out what is going on."

"Mr. Trump stated, Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life," the statement read.

The petition -- "Block Donald J Trump from UK entry" -- was started by someone using the name Suzanne Kelly and, in the United Kingdom, the government is obliged to respond to such appeals that receive over 10,000 signatures. If petitions reach 100,000 signatures, they are considered for debate in Parliament.

From the article:

"The Home Secretary has said that coming to the UK is a privilege and not a right and she will continue to use the powers available to prevent from entering the UK those who seek to harm our society and who do not share our basic values. Exclusion powers are very serious and are not used lightly. The Home Secretary will use these powers when justified and based on all available evidence.

So...

Britain has the right to prevent people who might be harmful to society and who don't share their values from entering Britain--but the U.S. does not have that same right?

Idiots.

I recently read an article, but haven't verified the actual codes.  It stated that according to US Code Title 8, Section 1182 (10)(f)   "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."

The article referenced two previous presidents using this authority.   The first one referenced was President Jimmy Carter......

Further bolstering the case is Jimmy Carters halting of Iranian travel to the United States, Ordering 50,000 Iranians to report to INS and ultimately deporting over 15,000 citing the same 1952 Immigration Laws. "

And the Chosen One.......

"Now, Therefore, I, Barack Obama, by the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, as amended (8 U.S.C. 1182(f)), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code, hereby find that the unrestricted immigrant and nonimmigrant entry into the United States of persons described in section 1 of this proclamation would be detrimental to the interests of the United States. I therefore hereby proclaim that:

Section 1. The entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of the following persons is hereby suspended:

(a) Any alien who planned, ordered, assisted, aided and abetted, committed or otherwise participated in, including through command responsibility, widespread or systematic violence against any civilian population based in whole or in part on race; color; descent; sex; disability; membership in an indigenous group; language; religion; political opinion; national origin; ethnicity; membership in a particular social group; birth; or sexual orientation or gender identity, or who attempted or conspired to do so.....

Looks like Trump knew what he was talking about.
