Singer Natalie Cole, the daughter of jazz legend Nat "King" Cole, has died, reported The Associated Press.

Spin magazine reported that Cole struggled with substance abuse issues over the years and faced liver disease and Hepatitis C.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson tweeted the news earlier this morning, calling Cole a "sister beloved & of substance and sound. May her soul rest in peace."

The chart-topping singer was 65.

I am astounded she was 65, I thought she was closer in age to me. So sad.

I used "Unforgettable", the version with her and her father, at my wedding.

Loved them both.
