Thanks. I honestly was dumbfounded. He's never sick and never in pain. He was pacing the house. He kept insisting he had gas. I tried everything I knew of. I even put him in a bubble bath! Then a hot pad. He just kept getting more and more agitated so finally I put my foot down and told him we were going. We were the ones there so the service was fantastic. But yes, he's home and drugged up now!
Ouch! Sorry to hear that NJN. Stones are so painful.
NJN, hope your DH has an easy recovery with the passing of the stones. I've had them, not fun!
Today I brought out all the quilting! Have the main body of dad's quilt sewn together now. I've been working on the piano key board since noon. My back is killing me!!! The darn boarder is going to take me longer to make then the main body did..
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
I had an epiphany on the TV front. I have a checking account that every month I've been putting a set amount into for over two years. The only thing I use that account for is putting gas in my car. The amount is enough to cover my gas needs for the month, plus a little cushion, just in case. I really don't pay attention to the balance on the account, I just know that there is enough for what I need. Well, I checked it today, and I have more than enough for a TV - and to still have a cushion!
I would also like to do a little shameless bragging. I can't belive how much I have saved over the last couple years since I've been back in Ohio. I very clearly remember living paycheck to paycheck before (and the times the pay checks didn't quite meet) And now I'm going to buy a rather expensive TV, in cash, without worrying what I need to give up.
*end shameless bragging :)
Do yourself a favor. Open a Best Buy charge. When you buy things you have a often times get no interest financing for 6 months and/or points toward other purchases. Then use the cash you have to pay off the charge.
I did that with my laptop. I've got a couple more months before I get that paid off. Truly, I could pay it now, but what's the point?
The point is, if you miss or are late with a payment they sock you with a huge interested charge and penalties. (Most of those deals have this in the fine print.)
I am well aware of the fine print. as soon as I get the email with my statement, I log on and pay the bill. I have no worries with my process
I am continuing the wonderful Saturday the geeks are having. I am sitting in the waiting room of the heart cath lab in "the city". Or local hospital sent my dad here when they determined he was having a heart attack. I am decidedly calmer now than I was an hour ago.

Oh, DG, I am SO very sorry. How is your mom doing?

I hope they're able to stabilize your dad and get him healed.
It was hard for me to keep my leg still as required after my cath. Hopefully your dad will have an easier time.
Oh my goodness, DG! All best wishes to both your Dad AND you! If you're in the Lab, your Dad is in good hands - they are well experienced with attacks. Update us when you can.

DG, prayers for your dad and you. Heart cat isn't bad. It's actually rather interesting watching it all on the monitors.
Chef, the first time I had a heart cath, I had to lay still for almost 12 hours.
The second time, just an hour. But the meds they gave me knocked me out for 4. The contrast sometimes makes me sick.

Thankfully, I only had to keep my leg still for 4 hours. My leg was so achy after and my back hurt from having to lay flat on the cath table. The 4 hours went fast, surprisingly and thankfully, but it's not an experience I care to have ever again.

She's doing ok. Surprisingly calm. I held it together until they were out of the house. I called my sister and she took over. My moms best friend came and got me and we came over to the hospital. And here we sit. It is also kind of helpful that her best friend went through this exact thing, so she's a calming force. I had a good cry with the dog before leaving for the hospital, so I'm better now
Oh DG! I am so glad he is in the hospital where he can get care. Are you ok?
I'm doing ok. As I said, I broke down and had a good cry after they left the house. Our local hospital is good, but not equipted for the big stuff. I am encoraged that we are here at mid-sized hospital instead of OSU. If he was dying he would have been life flighted to OSU.
Wow, I most definitely did not mean to set off the Geek Table hospital brigade. I'm so sorry DG. I definitely hope he's okay and that your mom is holding up too. It can suck just as bad being the spouse of the sickie.
DH has basically been asleep all day. He has had nothing to eat or drink all day. I know this is going to be ugly when I wake him up and demand he drink a bottle of water. He is NOT going to pass the stone if he's dehydrated.

Gosh, NJN. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes right about now.
I hope you can get him to drink a bunch of water, and that the stones pass quickly!
He's been moved to a room in ICU. Will be here a couple days. He had a blockage in a non-major artery. They put in stents and the doctor said he doesn't forsee and lasting damage. My mom is back with him now.

Oh phew DG. Sounds like he is in good hands and dodged the big one.
Once you have your nerves back, tell us the story. What happened?

Hang in there!
We found a compromise. The doctor said nothing with caffeine. He wanted coffee and then tea. I told him one cup of coffee after he drank two bottles of water. He asked for juice. So I said okay. He's currently drinking apple juice.

That sounds great! I mean that he's doing well. My dad had three major arteries partially blocked. He didn't know until they went to Colorado and the altitude was really high. He started having chest pains. Doctor put in stents. That was 33 years ago. He's 85 now and healthy as a horse.

My mom and I are home for the night. We will head back over tomorrow morning. He's all settled in CCU and he was having his dinner when we left. He was being a smart ass to his nurse and she was dishing it right back. He's in good hands for the night.
What happened.......my dad was taking down the outside Christmas decorations today. He and my mom were going to go over and do some shopping tonight. My mom texted me (yes, we text each other in the house, but with Corgi, I have to keep the basement door shut so its easier) that Dad wasn't feeling well, so they weren't going shopping. Then not long later she texted that they were going to the ER. I went upstairs at that point, she said he was having pains in his left arm, slight tightness in his chest, profuse sweating and his teeth hurt. So they were going to the hospital. They hadn't been gone long when my mom texted he was having a heart attack and they were sending him over to the city (normal procedure, our local hospital does not have the capacity to do heart caths). He went in the ambulance and my mom drove herself. The heart cath lab was waiting for him and he went right in when he got there. My sister called my mom's friend, who came to get me and took me to the hospital.
Ends up, he did have a heart attack. It was non-major artery and they did put in stents. Doctor said he has some other blockages, but those will be treated with medications. He's in the CCU for tonight, and the nurse said he would be moved to another unit tomorrow. He didn't look too bad. Kinda pale and really tired. He was eating his dinner when we left.
its been a long afternoon. thank you all for your support
Aww DG, sleep deeply tonight. That is a shock. Glad he is in good hands.
Thanks. I'm just so glad my mom (and dad) recognized the signs AND he agreed to actually go to the hospital. He can be rather stubborn and downplay stuff.
He will bounce right back DG! You'll be amazed. They can do fantastic things these days.

The only thing I would caution is that he might be a bit moody for a while.
Seems everyone I know who has dealt with this kind of thing has a period of mood swings.
Between the body's chemicals and the meds and everything, it just make a person edgy and that kind of thing.

That was my concern. I can see how the symptoms may not be so horrible that one would pass them off as something simple. Glad he agreed to go.
