Dad taught me in one afternoon.

The kids know how too.

I think it's important to know how.

I might not be great at it, but I could if I had to.

But in the floor is way easier than on the column.

But I can drive a ditch witch, front end loader and back hoe.

I think it's important to know too, but I have no idea how I will teach my kids. I don't think I know anyone with a stick shift car, let alone anyone I know well enough to let me borrow it, lol.

I suppose you could rent one for the day.

I've never driven a stick but I understand the mechanics of it. I would love to actually get the chance to drive one someday.

I've driven everything from a sub-compact to a 20' Penske moving truck. There's not much I can't/haven't driven. Farm/construction equipment being an exception.

I learned on a late model MGB midget.

Caitlyn learned on a Suzuki something-or-other.

And we have an old Mazda out here for the boys to learn on.

Dad's work truck is a stick on the column.

I think that's way over blown, flan.

I've never heard of it happening to anyone.

I've taught several young people how to drive a 5-speed in my Jeep.

My transmission lived to tell!wink

Young people learn more easily than old fogies! But, if I'm ever in Fort Worth, you can teach me...

I learned to drive in my parents' 1960 Mercury Comet, red with a white top, 3 speed manual transmission.

Who said anything about forcing people to carry guns?  You really go off into bizarre tangents.

I was responding to LILY. Read what she posted, maybe?

flan

I went back and read what Lily posted.

She suggested that we, "Arm as many law abiding citizens as possible."

That seems reasonable, to me.

I didn't see where she suggested that we force people to carry guns.

It's still a choice in this country.smile

Yes, and I hope it always WILL be a choice.

There have been other threads which included the suggestion that it be mandatory.

flan

Except you want the choice to NOT own a gun while simultaneously taking that away from others.  Uh huh.

 Quote?

Y'all can stockpile guns & ammo if that's what you call living. I could NOT care less.

flan

Read your second post on this thread.

with a few exceptions, you can't really get the high-performance that you're paying for in a high-performance vehicle (porsche, ferrari, audi, bmw, etc.) without employing a manual transmission--really depends on whether you like riding or DRIVING

Anyone here know how to use a choke?

Of course, you have to know what it is first. rofl.gif

 Yeah.

I remember my pawpaw's truck having one.

Old international work truck.

And the tractor.

LOL! The old '52 Chevy pickup I learned to drive when I was 9, had a choke. Those where the days. smile

I used to have an old Chevy Malibu, 1964, that I could manually choke if I took the top off the carburetor..  rofl.gif

Nope.  Had never driven one until we were dating and I had that Frontier Acres pickup.

My first new car was a 1967 Ford Cortina, manual transmission and a manual choke.

All you non-stickshift driving people, remember "Grind 'em until you find 'em" is NOT sound advice!

On the subject of the OP. I can't say as I'm surprised. When you disarm the law abiding either by bans or by red-tape, you arm the law breaking and embolden them.

LOL! You must be younger than me, WYSIWYG.

The phrase I heard was, "Grind them till they fit!"biggrin

Not that I ever had to!wink

Women are a lot better driving a stick, than men. (My experience, I can't offer a link for proof.)

Women hear, when our vehicle wants to go up a gear, or down.

Men don't tend to listen as well, from what I've seen.

( Wayne can drive "Belle", but I'd rather he not. He'll hit 45 or 50, merging onto the highway, and still be in 3rd. It drives me crazy!)furious

I drive "Belle", 99% of the time.

It's just better, that way.smile
