Tears Of Rage: Obama Cries During Gun Control Speech

President Obama wiped away tears during his gun control speech, sharing his anger at Congress and gun rights groups for blocking gun control.

“Every time I think about those kids it gets me mad,” he said, pausing to bow his head before staring into the cameras while tears welled up into his eyes.

Obama wiped away tears from his face about five different times during his speech, pausing frequently to add more emotion and gravity to the event. He also deviated several times from his prepared remarks to add more feeling to the text.

Members of Obama’s staff were also wiping away tears as the president spoke as members of Congress sat silently in the room. Senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Health and Human Secretary Sylvia Burwell, and FBI directer James Comey attended the speech. Comedian and actress Amy Schumer also attended, seated in the front row. Representative

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)

9%

also attended, together with a handful of other Democratic members of congress. Gun control activists stood and cheered wildly in response to the president’s call for more gun control.

Obama recalled the story of Zavion Dobson, the teenager who sacrificed his life to shield three girls from a shooting that occurred in Knoxville, Tennessee.

“Greater love hath no man than this than a man lay down his life for his friends,” he said quoting scripture.

“I’m not asking people to have that same level of courage or sacrifice or love,” he added.

“But if we love our kids and care about their prospects and if we love this country and care about its future, then we can find the courage to vote, we can find the courage to get mobilized and organized.”

You know, if he really cared, he'd be making a point to scold the criminals. He'd be making punishment of crimes involving guns harsher, lengthier.

He has not proposed one thing that would have made even the tiniest bit of difference in the situation he is pretending to sob about.

Also, he brings that situation up NOW--but he didn't give a crap when it happened. He was all over Ferguson, but didn't even comment on this one until today.

The office?  Well, the man sitting in it is a MAN, and it goes into that job with all his faults.  We don't have royalty in this country, and one of our founding freedoms is the right to bitch, moan, complain, and insult our government and it's officials.

When DD's pediatrician started asking the mandated questions such as " is there a gun in the house" I refused to answer. Part of O's plan is to circumvent the HPPA laws and use the information to put people on a watch list.

I can understand putting people on the no-fly list on a watch list as far as guns are concerned, but ordinary citizens?
I haven't heard anything of the sort. A link would be appreciated.

I've had those questions.

It really depends on my mood how I answered.

Most of the time they got "none of your business".

But sometimes they got "I support the 2nd ammendment".

Umm, he is going to use the medical database he had created through Ocare to search out "dangerous" people, those with mental disorders, he will have access to the gun thing.  Don't be an idiot, the government has the information and will use it.  I knew that when the law went into affect and so I don't answer any questions not related to the reason why I am at the doctor's.  As a matter of fact many people won't even go to the doctor now since the government gets all their medical history.

Your car has to be registered....the government has access to that, doesn't it?
Is that like saying everyone who owns a car is on a watch list?

Not my point and just like a liberal to try to change the point. He is not restricting access to the dangerous mental disorders, but all medical records. This is a trend over the past 7 years.

I think it would be very interesting to see just how much the government knows about each of us.

Between the MVP shopping clubs to the apps to the GPS in our cars and the "smart" features we use, there isn't much that we do that isn't known about us.

And that's just every day things and not even the official things like census and taxes and other formal information gathering.

Just because there's a lot that someone COULD know about an individual doesn't mean that anyone has been interested in investing time and energy into COLLECTING and ANALYZING any of that information.

My employer COULD track the GPS in my company phone, and COULD analyze my calling patterns and computer use to see what I'm REALLY doing every day, but ...

all they REALLY care about is (1) how my sales are going, and (2) what my customers say about me.

As long as the sales come in and the customers sound happy, no one is ever going to check anything else.

I would just like Obama to remember for once that he is the President - that is the EXECUTIVE branch. It is not his job to make laws, it is his job to enforce the ones Congress makes. But, instead, he ignores the laws he doesn't like, and tries to make new ones if Congress won't agree to do it for him. News flash, Barrack, this is not a dictatorship or a monarchy. Those people in Congress are not your lackeys, and they do not have to please you - they have to please their constituents.

ACA has a section preventing the requirement of collecting the information. It does not prevent doctors from asking.

First of all, when Obamacare was moving through Congress, the NRA acted to ensure that the program could not be used as a formal legal basis for mandating inquiries and record-keeping about gun ownership. Section 2716(c) of the Affordable Care Act is titled “Protection of Second Amendment Gun Rights.”

Subsection (c)(1) states that “A wellness and health promotion activity” implemented under Obamacare “may not require the disclosure or collection of any information relating to” lawful possession or storage of firearms or ammunition in a person’s residence. When Obamacare was moving through Congress, the NRA acted to ensure that the program could not be used as a formal legal basis for mandating inquiries and record-keeping about gun ownership.

The next subsection, (c)(2), states that nothing in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, the formal name for Obamacare) authorizes the collection of information about the lawful possession or storage of firearms or ammunition.

Finally, (c)(3) says that nothing in the PPACA “shall be construed to authorize or may be used to maintain records of individual ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition.”

What we are talking about has nothing to do with that.  What we are talking about is the provision that allows doctors to pass on medical information to authorities--in direct violation of HPPA.

Your car has to be registered....the government has access to that, doesn't it?
Is that like saying everyone who owns a car is on a watch list?

No, one does not need a firearms license to own a gun. And it's not at all the same thing as registering a car. Owning a car is not a right embedded in our constitution.

Just because there's a lot that someone COULD know about an individual doesn't mean that anyone has been interested in investing time and energy into COLLECTING and ANALYZING any of that information.

that isnt' really the issue--whether they COULD use it or not is irrelevant--whether they have a right to having it in the first place is the issue

have always believed in more freedom not less--part of that bundle of rights we have in this country is the right to live in peace and to me that means in privacy as well--free from unnecessary government intrusions--absent any criminal activity of my own, they should need or require only the minimal information necessary for me to drive, vote, fly, pay taxes, etc.--nothing more, for whatever reason or imagined situation

supported and voted for W twice ( have met him in person a couple of times as well ) and though sincerely like him as a man and a naturalized texan, had some serious reservations about the patriot act in general and the homeland security actions/powers in particular but believe both were important steps for the times
