DH seems to be in a better mood today. I'm glad. I'm going to actually attempt to get something done around my house. I'm thinking our tree won't be getting taken down anytime soon.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Well, he just got up. He reports a feeling that he has to pee every few minutes. The doctor said he would feel this way as the stone got into the final stages of passing. So there may be hope after all. He's used up all my Bath and Body Works bubble soap! And I'm learning to nap when he does. We just have to shoo all the dogs into our room so they will sleep too!

SS and I are celebrating our birthday this weekend. I am going to attempt a piecaken.

Mere's birthday is today, but we're waiting till the weekend to celebrate.smile

We need to make plans for your birthday lunch next week.

(If you can get away for a couple of hours, that is. If you can't, we'll just postpone it until your DH is better.)smile

I feel like it will never end.

my dad today told me he needed a piece of cardboard to make a sign. Welcome to Guantanamo Bay.  The heart attack may not have killed him, but I might.

Has anyone said anything about Cadiz rehab?

I went through it.

It was great.

You go in, they teach you how to put on the stickies for the halter monitor.

Then you cycle through a series of exercises geared to help get your strength back and help your heart work.

There are nutritionists, cooking classes, nurses and therapists to answer questions.

Ask the doctor about it.

I think he has an appointment next week for some form of rehab. And they sent him home with a bunch of books and information.

I needed to go to town to get Corgi food. But dad and all the dogs are asleep. I don't dare move. I'll borrow some kibble from my mom and go tomorrow.

DS spent the Walmart gift card he got for Christmas today. He picked out a toy cleaning set and toy cash register. He's now alternating between pretending to be a cashier and mopping the floor. He also wanted the toy vacuum but one of our friends said she got him one. Her kids were sick the day of his party so she wasn't able to give it to him yet.

He absolutely loves cards and the register came with a toy credit card and a slot to slide the card. It also came with cash but he's ignoring the cash and using the card. It also came with a working conveyor belt, scanner, and microphone. He's having loads of fun running the groceries down the belt then scanning and paying for them.

My mom is out with friends tonight. I don't remember if I said that. So I'm alone on dad duty.

I fed him dinner then he napped for a hour. He accused me of roofieing him since he already spent all day sleeping. Once he was awake, he asks me "can we make my sign now?" He went with "Welcome to Stalag 13" from Hogan's Heroes. It is currently hanging outside the garage. He is overly pleased with himself.

Quote of the night:
Dad: it's good to have a hobby
Me: pissing off your wife is an admirable one
Dad: you should go with something you're good at

The toy cleaning set is pretty real. It's just kid-sized. Most of it is truly usable.

He gets to use the real stuff. We have a dust mop he'll occasionally run around the apartment. He also helps with dishes (more like throws them at you rapidly and you better catch them) and laundry. I can't load the washer anymore without assistance so I usually just hold the hamper while he throws stuff in. We're working with him on the lightning fast unloading of the dishwasher.

He's scared of the real vacuum when it's on but likes pushing it around when it's off.

He's in charge of wiping up his own spills now that he can reach the paper towels. He's also in charge of gathering laundry and putting it in the appropriate hamper. We have 2 hampers - clothes and towels/sheets. He's pretty good at getting stuff in the right hamper. They're both black so I guess he just looks at what's in the hamper to figure it out. We don't divide clothes by color since most of our clothes are all similar colors and they're old enough to not fade anyway.

I was playing with you. I think you know that.

But yeah, I did the same with mine.

It paid off, they are pretty good about keeping things done up.

He's an opinionated shopper too. I don't remember if I posted about him selling a toy he outgrew then picking out a new one. He would pick up a toy, turn it all directions carefully examining it, then put it back where it came from, and move on to the next toy. I'm not sure what was going through his mind but he was making deliberate choices and not just picking up everything.

He also pays for his own stuff when he gets something. We give him the money and he gives it to the cashier. It won't be long before he's begging to scan the card in the card reader.

My promotion was approved by the board of directors. I have a term of 6-8 months in my supervisor's role (and at his pay rate) while they conduct the job search. If they have not found a replacement for my boss in that time frame, I renegotiate with them. I do not want his job long term, but wouldn't mind holding down the fort until we find the right candidate. After my term is over, I begin my new job at a new pay rate. Whew. It's a lot to take in. The staff will find out on Monday so I have the weekend before anything hits the fan...
