Well, technically not, it just feels like it right now.

I've been home sick for 2 days (just a cold), but am heading in to work today.

DH was sick yesterday & slept & slept & slept...

Maybe I'll see him tonight.

flan

p.s. I think the snow starts later tonight & continues tomorrow.

Okay, it's a little too warm for snow here.

Drive safe.

Chilly and 40 here. Possible rain today, and a high of 43.

Hello Winter!wink

I'm glad you're feeling better, flan.

Good morning, ed.

I'm not sure what we'll be doing today.

I'd like to hibernate, but I'm not sure my family will let me.biggrin

Ice cream might help! (It coats my stomach if I've had too much spicy stuff.)

I have to shop for windows today.

It is lightly snowing, not enough to pile up.

Rubio will be in town today at our indoor gun range. I wanted to go practice shooting but don't want to get caught up in any crowd.

I just woke up. Almost 10 hours of much needed sleep. I feel almost human for the first time in a week.

I had planned on going into work today. But I think I've changed my mind. I need to do some laundry and I think I'll go shopping tonight. A do-over of last Saturday evening.

Good morning.

52 and trying to rain here.

Mom and dad came home last night. And they left again this morning. Lol.. Wanderlust at its finest.

Gonna do little straightening up around here, run Jesse to a thing and then coming home to Netflix and popcorn.

Hope everyone has a great day.

My peeps just left for Trader Joes. I think they will probably wander around Southlake for a while, so I have the house to myself!smile

(Well, not counting the six cats and a dog, of course. But they don't fight me for the remote, so I'll let them stay.)wink

I did manage to color my hair this morning.

So, my day hasn't been a total waste.biggrin

So trying to get motivated. Window shopping is out, the showroom is not open in the winter. I have to order some hardwood flooring that matches my current floors, putting it down in the laundry/bathroom area and I want to hit up an antique shop. When I get back I have to work on getting some of the ice off the end of the driveway. I am soo not motivated.

Today might be a lazy day. Yesterday, every bad joint flared up and my right calf locked up. It will be a couple days before the pain subsides.

DS is busy reorganizing the tin of cookies my parents got him for Christmas. Whatever keeps him happy as this momma is hurting too much to chase him.

Mmm, chicken & dumplings. Now I need to add that to the list.

It is 1:00. We just finished brunch (DH is still washing dishes). I am still in my pajamas. I should get motivated to go to the store to get what I need to make chicken stock for the soups I want to make this weekend and finish stocking the freezer.

It warmed up a little for the weekend. Today is up to 52. Tomorrow is supposed to go up to 63. Monday it drops back down to 34.

Boys woke up at 6:30. Sent them back to bed for half hour. Ran them to taekwando then the dentist. Had enough. Send them off with DH to get fitted for a set of golf clubs they each won in a drawing at the club.

DD and I had a breakfast date. Back home now and considering taking the Christmas decorations down now that epiphany is over. I HATE that job though. And I want a nice relaxing weekend since Monday might be a bit stressful when the people at work find out I am their new boss. Most will be ambivalent but a few will be upset. And they are a noisy few.

There are different  ways to make them.  Here is the way my grandmother and my mom made them.

I place the chicken  in a big pot of water and cook the chicken  till almost  done and then simmer.  While chicken  is simmering   I would make the dumplings. 5 cups of flour add salt and pepper  cut in a cup of cisco shorting then I add a cup and a half of milk and mix together  and the roll it out on a floured surface and then cut into strips.

I then take out the chicken  and strip the meat off the bone and add it to the broth. I add chicken  broth to the stock since chicken  nowadays  seem to be more leaner. I bring it to a boil and then add  dumplings  one at a time. I then add a little  milk and butter  and simmer  ten minutes  covered and then ten minutes  uncovered.

Not the most healthiest  so I  don't  make it often but is so good. One of those kind of recipes  that may take practice. Some people  make drop dumplings, some will use biscuits  and some recipes  call for carrots  and other vegetables.

Yes, the board president will be announcing it to show that I am the person they support. There will be a bunch that are excited (my 2 assistants keep bugging me and asking me if it's going to be me) and only 2-3 that will be upset. I plan on killing them with kindness.

I have a whole wall of windows that overlook the wooded area behind our house. It's beautiful outside but it's 2 degrees and it looks like it!! Pretty view though. Nice in the fall too.

Isn't it?! Thanks. There are 5 windows in a row like that one. And there is another window on top of that one that I couldn't get in the pic. Floor to ceiling and wall to wall. The living room was a former classroom so imagine that old school classroom wall that is all windows in your living room. Usually it's hot in here but at 2 degrees outside, it's a bit chilly and the dog won't take off his sweater! Lol

After years of trying I've finally found the perfect recipe for Chicken and Dumplings. I do drop dumplings but don't use canned biscuits. I make the dumplings myself. I also add peas and carrots. My family likes them. They are definitely a comfort food. My dumplings always come out light and fluffy. DS can't eat them though.

Dona, you need to eat and keep food in your stomach if you are taking antibiotics. Most meds will upset your stomach if you take them on an empty stomach. But especially pain meds and antibiotics. Yes, if the med specifically states to take on an empty stomach then that is what you do but antibiotics and pain pills are known for causing up stomachs. Eat some crackers or toast and it will help. Something light and non greasy.

We got woken up by Carlee who was having a seizure. But she's only had two in two months now so they are really decreasing on the medicine. She was having about one a week. We're making great progress.

I have some baking to do today. I have to get the cake done for the birthdays and I want to assemble the meatballs for tomorrow so I'm not trying to do everything at once. I told SS he could help. It's really cold here and we're not in any way even thinking about taking down the Christmas stuff.

DH is still in pain. No stones.

I picked up a box of old paperwork and kind up swung it up to rest on my arms only to discover a sewing needle was sticking out of the bottom. It stuck in my wrist so hard I had to give it a good pull to get it out. Now I have a huge lump and it hurts like heck. I managed to puncture a vein. I'm now hoping to get called to work so the doc can look at it. Leaving town Wednesday so I don't have much time to wait and see if it will get infected. Tetnus is up to date.

Good thing your tetanus is up to date. When was your last shot?

Most people associate tetanus with rusty metal, but the fact is, that Clostridium tetani is EVERYWHERE! It can mostly be found in soil. You can get it just by walking around barefoot in your yard.

It's ok. We have both been busy. I am unpacked, but not 100% settled if that makes sense. I have not gotten anything up on the walls yet because they are really thick and I need the maintenance people to help me. I also haven't stopped moving the furniture around in the living room. It's actually so big that it's awkward. It's difficult to get things exactly where I want them. But it's fun to keep moving stuff around!

Dona, the boys' ped always recommended yogurt when on antibiotics. Neither of my boys like it, but #2 used to eat it when he was on them. He never had a problem, until he decided he hated yogurt and refused to eat it. Last time he was on antibiotics he refused yogurt and had problems with his stomach. So if you can stomach yogurt, you might want to give it a try.

Last shot was less than 5 years ago. Cut my finger on a dirty instrument at work. Four stitches. Wrist looks gross, like I have a huge ganglion cyst, lol.

Niece's baby had a bad yeast infection last week from antibiotics. We found him some baby yogurt. Maybe that would taste better.

SB, if I were you, I would get that wrist looked at as soon as possible. Ouch!!

MM, great view! It's cold here as well. 3 above right now. The Vikings game is going to be torture for fans and players alike, tomorrow.

I seem to be in quilt depravation today. Since I took dad's quilt to the quilter and I don't have another one started yet, I'm feeling down. DH is home today and seems to think he needs lots of attention.

So, at odd times, I have been pulling out material and just looking and planning. Maybe tomorrow I can get started on a new one. It's not like I don't have 3 kits...

Good afternoon everyone!
