Today has certifiably turned crappy for me!
I took a tray of bacon to put it in the oven to bake, and the oven door handle came off in my hand! Broken on one side, and the screw hanging on the inside on the other side. Used oven mitts to open the door & deposit the bacon; now I have to find out where the model/serial numbers are located.
I think 11 years is too young for an oven to start falling apart. I take good care of my appliances - my previous oven was still going strong at 21 years when we moved.

Is this rotten appliance week or something? The handle on my oven broke yesterday!!! ARGH!!!

So sorry it happened to you as well. Darn it!

Well, boo on all of these broken oven doors!

I hope the repair won't cost too much!

Our oven is old enough, that I don't think there is a replacement handle available. We may have to bit the bullet and buy a new one. It is over 20 years old.

No shame for it, Czech!

Yeehaw! You get to pick out a new one! How fun!

What kind are you thinking of getting?smile

LOL, DH says this one is just fine, it still works. ROTF

Yeah, he's a bit cheap sometimes.. evileye

You can probably find one from salvage.

Call a local appliance store and ask if they have a phone number for a used and salvage person.

Good morning, Good Geeks!

I'm going back to bed.

It's cold outside.wink

1. I may hate you right now...

2. Define "cold."

Seriously.  Texans don't know real cold.

I lived in Chicago until I was twenty.  I may be a Texan now but I still know snow and cold.  I also know I don't like it.

You people better not jinx my oven now. It is older than most of you and still works beautifully. It is a 1946 Avco Crossley double-wide. Still looks pretty good too.

Finally, I decided on a new quilt to make! Have the large pieces cut out, now need to cut bunches of 2 inch strips.

I have also put together a bundle of material for the quilt to be made in Amethyst Royale. Thanks to IKWTDS!!

So redoing the 1/2 bath/laundry area. I am going to buy new front loaders. Mine are 8 years old and the washer, while it works, does not have the vibration sensors that today's machines have. My dryer is fine but I need stackables and my dryer can't be stacked since it has a lip on it. Today's appliances are not made well. You have to go expensive to get well made appliances.

Quality costs a bundle these days. Actually, everything is so expensive. I hate to even look at price tags on appliances.

Good luck with the redo of your half bath/laundry area.

I just got home. Went to dinner with a friend after work, we spent 4 hours at the restaurant talking and laughing. This is after being together for 6 hours on Saturday, and talking and laughing the whole time. I really thought moving back here would be horrible and very temporary. But things seemed to have worked out well. And I am so thankful to have T as my friend. We really needed each other.
