Good morning, Lily!

I think I'll look for a ceramic skillet at the kitchen store.

My 12 inch skillet is ready for the trash can.

Looking forward to lunch and laughs with NJN!

I hope everyone has a great day!smile

Preparing material for a quilt. I swear it takes longer to prep then to sew.

Have to take a road trip this afternoon and I get to visit a quilt shop. Oh, the agony.. biggrin

Good morning all!

Having the white pines in the front yard removed today. Should let in more light which is much needed. And no more pine needles to mess with each Fall. Yipppeeeee!

Have fun on your shopping spree, NJN and FWM! Be sure and take/post pics!

Oh, and #2 has been recommended into the APP program. #1 missed it by a point. Testing did take place during the time he broke his arm and was receiving treatment, so hopefully next year he'll score a little higher.

Thanks everyone!

Have fun, Czech!

FNW, we always forget to take pictures. We'll try to remember this time.

I'm sure we'll have a blast. We always do!

I better top off my tank on the way out.

Oh, and don't let me forget to look for new cake pans, NJN.

(The old ones went into the trash after my unhappy experience on Sunday!)wink

Later, my pretties!

Morning everyone. It is chilly here today. I am sipping hot tea & munching on a butter drenched English muffin listening to my co-workers discuss The Bachelor.

Last night on Hallmark channel I caught a show called The Last Man Standing. I have never seen it before. In the half hour episode I watch they trashed Obama, Hillary & revered Regan. I set it up to record a few more episodes. biggrin

We took an impromptu day trip to the Patton Museum in CA yesterday. DH wanted to go somewhere and Patton is his favorite WWII general so off we went. DS climbed up and down the steps to the statue of Patton multiple times and refused to do anything else. I watched him while DH looked at the tanks and such. DH got a huge kick out of being in another state and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

We stopped in Blythe for dinner and about choked at the gas prices - average $3 per gallon. It's $1.79 at the Costco by us. We waited till we were back in AZ before gassing up. Still paid more than at home ($2.19) but considering gas at road stop type places tends to run high, that was a reasonable price.

I'm waiting on DS' nap time then I'll take a nap myself before figuring out dinner.

Is that the one with Time Allen? I think that's a pretty funny show.

Yeah Tim Allen.  I've never seen it before.  I'm not much on sit-coms but it was on when I turned on the TV & caught my attention.  It was pretty funny.

Our road trip was a success! We got some new stuff at the Kitchen Collection.

NJN also got slippers and a pair of pink shoes!biggrin

I even remembered to take a selfie of us. I will post it later, after I download my pictures from my phone.

Lunch was delicious. I had a spinach salad will grilled chicken, dried cranberries and slivered almonds. NJN had Chicken fried steak.

Lots of fun! Lots of laughs!

Ouch on the gas prices, Chef.

I filled up this morning at $1.58. By the time I got home it had dropped to $1.55.

I always guess wrong, on when to fill up!furious

Hi everybody!smile

Glad you had fun, FWM. Sounds like NJN had fun as well!

I'm back from my road trip. Got to visit the quilt shop and deposit money. biggrin

Bought the material for the back of the quilt I am currently working on. AND, they GAVE me a free strip quilt pattern for the amethyst strips I got from IKWTDS! Now I have to get a move on the first quilt, so I can start the second one.

The one I'm making now is for oldest DD. She's a teal kind of person and her quilt will be beautiful.

The amethyst one will be all MINE! biggrin

We had to put down a very pretty three month old calf. Sara. She had a twisted intestine. No way to prevent it, no way to predict it, no way to cure it.
Absolutely tragic, she was gorgeous and a universal favorite.

Done! DD got out there and shoveled where the blower can't go. It is the light fluffy stuff so easy to move around. I will have to deal with the stuff at the end of the driveway when the street plow comes by. I did snow blow about 6 feet out onto the street and ten feet on the side of the street in both directions to minimize how much snow the plow pushes back.

A peppermint bath sounds good, but I don't do baths. Another storm coming Saturday and it promises to be bigger. Need to get gas for the blower and perhaps a bath afterwards with a glass of wine.

Things to be proud of today:

I did day 1 of my work out plan. It's an 8-week plan my sister loves, so I'm giving it a try. Day 1 was supposed to be last Monday, but with dad in the hospital, that didn't happen. Then it was supposed to be last night, and well, that didn't happen either. Instead of wimping out and waiting another week, I will just shuffle the rest day.

I helped draft a letter to our congressman about the current state of our industry. We are getting hit hard by dumping from some nations and it is killing the US steel industry. Anyhoo, I sent my boss the part I was responsible for and his only comment was "looks good"

Sad about the calf Dona. 😥

Oh no!  I gave it all to him.  He thought I was the greatest wife on earth!  IKWTDS, DH swears a bubble bath with peppermint soap is the cure all for everything.  Except, apparently, kidney stones.  He still has not passed it.  We will go back to the urologist on Monday for a scan and if it hasn't passed they'll remove it.  They say after two weeks your chances of passing it on your own are next to nothing.

 . . .

No.

There are two ways, actually, three I guess. You can shoot it with a gun, use a humane killer (ie a bolt gun) or lethal injection, which is a blue fluid that goes into the vein amd knocks them out instantly and kills them shortly after.

We always use the injection on baby calves. A cow we will use a normal gun, but if we need to call the vet and he makes the call of if she has a chance or not, he uses the bolt gun if the cow is outside, injection if she is in an area with other cows.

They are surprisingly not our biggest problem. There are countries (mainly China) that are purposely driving the cost of our products down. Their government has even devalued their currency to make the US dollar stronger and encourage the purchase of their material over ours. It is against US trade laws and we are asking our congressman to lobby on our behalf to stop the unfair importation.

And this is quickly coming to an end.  Your company just needs to find financing to keep them going.  China's economy is collapsing due to them devaluing their currency and not adhering to safe production.
