Yep. We won't sell any milk from cows treated with antibiotics or any meat that has been either. Even if the cow gets legitimately sick and needs antibiotics, the farmers have to segregate that cow so her milk doesn't get mixed in. I am sure Dona could explain the whys and how's better. But it's really interesting.
We go through a ton of eggs. DD eats hard boiled eggs as a snack and DH eats them for breakfast or lunch almost every day. If he doesn't go to the d-hall for breakfast he goes there for lunch. He eats eggs for the meal he doesn't go there for. He loves scrambled egg burritos.

I don't like green olives. Black and kalamata but not green. DH hates olives.

LOL Yes it would! We just found a farmer near here who raises organic chickens. They sell egg, in tons of colors!, for next to nothing. It's about a 30 minute drive but DH and I are thinking about going out there. We also found a place out by us that raised all organic, no hormone, no antibiotic, low fat content beef. It's kind of pricey but we're looking into it.
Yeah, that's why all our meat and dairy is kind of pricey.
No hormones and no antibiotics. It's illegal.

Even stuff like Kraft macaroni and cheese has to have cheese from Canadian cows.
They're very strict about hormones and antibiotics.
However, it's more expensive; Some Canadians go across the border to buy antibiotic and hormone-infused milk.
Much cheaper.
My dogs have discovered banana chips. They think it's dog crack.

I have a local vendor who makes organic, gluten free, vegan dog treats. They are made from human grade food and perfectly ok for people to eat. She has a new flavor that's doggy crack. Aksel literally begs for it. I have to say, I like them too! Blueberry flavored!!

I make my dogs biscuits. I use pumpkin, peanut butter, a touch of cinnamon, and whole wheat flour.

I have cute cookie cutter shapes too so I can cut them out into the shape of a bone or a paw.

They should shop at Aldi - their milk is hormone and antibiotic free and is cheap.

If you can buy half the cow it would be pretty economincal I bet. We just bought half a pig. When you look at what you get in total, it is a pretty good deal.
Our farmers here have CSA's. It stands for community supported agriculture. You pay a flat fee every month to the farmer and you get a set number of items in return. One of them is a 5 bushel basket of assorted produce, PLUS all the flowers and other assorted produce you can pick. It's a great deal. The chicken farmer I was talking about does one too and for $50 a month you get 4 dozen eggs and 4 whole chickens (ready to cook) a month. Her eggs retail for $5.29 a dozen so it's not a bad deal at all either. If you like chicken, which we do.
It's a discount grocery store. How "impressed" do you need to be??
The store needs to be CLEAN, for one thing...
flan
They are clean around here. But it's set up warehouse style, so if the sight of boxes offends you and makes you think "dirty", then it's not the store for you.

We have a part timer here that farms & she sells us her eggs. $2 a dozen and delivered to our desk. I get a dozen every week except during the winter. They don't lay well in the winter...

I've been to Sam's & Costco.
There is an Aldi about a mile from where I work. Hey! That could be my "something new!"

There are winter layers. You have to have the right kind of chicken to lay in the cold weather. I have a book with hundreds of kinds chickens listed. It tells their breed, what they need to thrive best, what color egg they lay, how much they lay, and the best climate for them to lay in. Talks about their temperament too. Big book. Tells you all about chickens.

Aldi's doesn't carry brand names. If that is important to you, you might not like the experience. That's one thing I didn't like about it. I like being able to find brands I know and trust. If you want that, it might not be the store for you. Just an FYI.

I think I have the same book. I've wanted chickens for a while but with my new house I'm getting much more sure it's what i'll do next.

I have a mounted TV, but I don't know how to run the wires through the wall. So I'm having someone come out and do that. I don't like seeing wires...
You could have googled this.
No, you have to carve out the drywall and all that crap. And we have a hundred component wires (not really, but it seems like it), and this guy is an audio specialist, so he will hook everything up right.

Big mistake to bury the wires in the wall unless you can access the whole length of wire easily. What you should do is have a small pipe, can even be squared, to run on the outside of the wall so when a component isn't working/needs replacing you can easily take off the pipe to get at the wires. The pipe hides the wires and you paint it the same color as the wall.
